Actually, gas is now a buck-ninety-nine here near the house, so I'm back to being Lord MAXI-van, I'll have you know. Took the big Dodge conversion van back out of mothballs. It's nice to drive my big ol' comfy van again.
Actually, I had to put it in the shop for brake work today, so I still am "Lordminivan" for a while. The minivan needs work, too.
I still live and breathe, but there hasn't been much time for numismatics or the Internet lately. I should be able to resume "business as usual" next week, hopefully.
Thought of you today, Shroomdude. One of the other antique mall vendors had two Churchill crowns. (For five bucks apiece- such a steal! Heh. Maybe one is your elusive MS66- they looked pretty nice... )
<< <i>Subtle way of telling us all that his ship is coming in. >>
I certainly hope so. I've been waitin' fer the dang thing long enough.
<< <i>And who is this person with a picture of a floating Chinese take-out box in his sig line? >>
Hmph. That floating box is the Emerald Princess II, Dead King. The successor to the boat I sent you and Mrs. Aethelred out on during your honeymoon.
I was lurking down by the beach on Fifth Street after work one day, hoping to get a shrimp boat with its nets out, or a big bulk cargo carrier coming in, but the casino boat is what I ended up getting.
It looks a tad less boxy from the side, as seen in this earlier sig pic taken from the Lanier Bridge, overlooking the "Liberty Harbor" construction site:
Do I have a thing for the Emerald Princess II? Not really. It just happens to turn up in several of my pictures. I'll probably take ladymarcovan out on it on some day cruise, for photography purposes. (Ten bucks for a boat ride and a snack ain't bad at all- let the suckers go play in the casino!)
You wanna see a "floating Chinese carryout box", you should see the ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) car carriers that come into Colonel's Island here:
<< <i>You could fit the 1st Armored division in two of those.... >>
Oh, believe me, they fit a lot on 'em. Colonels Island, which I drive over on my way into town, is just covered in brand-new SUVs and cars and trucks. This has become a major east coast entry point for lots of imported cars. And you need big, boxy boats to bring 'em all in!

What's next, a Mongoose sighting?
No, no... wait... I know what would be the pinnacle of rare creature sightings... an Askari encounter. That would be something.
(Sheesh, most newbs here, even some of the two-year-olds, probably have never even heard of the Sorceror.)
That would be wonderful, I second the motion.
