Where do you even begin??? This is a truly extrordinary list. You could make a case for about anyone here. I think the shoo-ins are Hull and Yzerman but I think Robitaille, Gilmour, Leetch and Hextall deserve strong consideration. Sergei Makarov is also up and he should get some consideration for his international stature.

Man, these are all the guys whose rookie cards I was so jazzed to get in the early '90s!

Forwards/defensemen-

Dave Andreychuk
Brian Bellows
Dino Ciccarelli
Vincent Damphousse
Theoren Fleury
Doug Gilmour
Phil Housley
Brett Hull
Dale Hunter
Steve Larmer
Brian Leetch
Alexander Mogilny
Bernie Nicholls
Adam Oates
Brian Propp
Luc Robitaille
Bobby Smith
Dave Taylor
Pat Verbeek
Steve Yzerman

Goalies-

Tom Barrasso
Don Beaupre
Dan Bouchard
Ron Hextall
Kelly Hrudey
Mike Liut
Kirk McLean
Gilles Meloche
Andy Moog
Pete Peeters
Felix Potvin
Mike Richter
Rogatien Vachon
John Vanbiesbrouck
Mike Vernon

wow, you're right. Is there a limit on how many can be chosen? So many Hockey HOF caliber players in that group!

  • Yes, the list in incredible, it's a good thing Anderson retired a year earlier (he gets in this year, no way he get's in off that list).
If Larionov goes in with Anderson this year Makarov has to go in next year (2/3rds of the famous KLM line, Krutov won't get in as he bombed in the NHL).
Dave Andreychuk is probably the worst player on there but he scored 600+ goals so he'll probably go first ballot along Yzerman, Hull, Leetch and Luc Robitaille. Moog + Richter are shoe-ins, but I have no idea how they'll divide this up, that's already too many. I think they like to keep it around 5 players max, I think 5 went in last year but it might have been 6 (with Messier). There are at least 5 others that will probably get in. Makes you wonder why guys don't think more about when they actually retire.

  • According to the HALL OF FAME Website, only (5) total can go in for any one year! WOW! There are going to be
a LOT of players waiting on the sideline for a while yet!

    My picks:

    Yzerman
    Hull
    Robitaille
    Vernon
    Vanbiesbrouck

Ok, let the whinning begin! image

And then you figure the list will only grow because guys like Fedorov, Sundin, Jagr, Roenick, Recchi, etc are in their last years of play. A few of that class (rookies circa 1989-90-91) are probably first ballot HOFers.
