The Detroit Lions need players bad.....

Barry Sanders still looks like he can put the pads on. The photo was taken at Sunday's blowout game against the Jag's. image

the Lions have no excuse. They've had the first pick or damn near it every year since when, 1964?

Don't remember the last time they may have had the first pick, but it would have been a while ago (until this year). But plenty of seconds, thirds and so-on with no results is still damning. Friggin' Fords suck.

I knew the Lions had busts and underacheivers, but I didn't know they wanted quitters now. Barry would fit in well.

Based on the movie, they sure could use Robo-Cop now.

    Does anyone concur?

I see nothing wrong with retiring in your prime and on your own terms. There are maybe a handful of unselfish players in NFL history that would have retired with all-time rushing records easily within reach. To many players don't know when to hang it up and end up looking pathetic on the field.

With different ownership and management it could have been different.

Lions gave up the moon for Calvin Johnson, Peterson went after him. Can you say bust?

Sanders quit, plain and simple. Did Marino have great players around him towards the end of his career..heck no, did he quit? NO.

  • With Adrian Peterson the Lions let a great back get away. Calvin Johnson is far from a bust though, putting up very good numbers on a horrendous team.

Bring back Wayne. If the game was boring at least he was entertaining to watch. He was better than what people gave him credit for.

Sorry OP there aren't enough players out there to help that team. You need a different owner as a starter.

Gave up the moon? The drafted him with their second pick and didn't trade up for it. Most had him as the #1 guy in the draft. Hell, at least they didn't pass on Peterson to take Gaines Adams image Kevin is just still mad that the Lions didn't make the trade on draft day.

As far as Barry being a quitter, I was upset. But he had every right to retire healthy, especially from a team that didn't have any interest in improving.
