Okay. I'm not interested in complete sets(just way too many commons) so I picked out 12 stars from the 1964 baseball set that I want to collect. 1964 being my birthyear.
The latest one I bought is a Willie Stargell PSA 8, which is his second year card. That makes 6 out of the 12 cards I want.
So thats what I'm collecting right now.
    What are you collecting?
  • i used to be a huge collector, then began selling and was in it for the profits, nowdays people aren't really buying anymore and the card market is overproduced of autos and game used cards, there are just so many now, i enjoyed this hobby until the end of 1998. now i just focus on my new york yankees collection, looking for autos and any rare 1/1 yankees stuff, and i'm a huge jeter fan, so any auto or game used or rare cards i collect. the only non-yankees stuff i would also collect would be washington wizards autos and 89 upper deck griffeys, other than that, just enjoy talking about collectibles and giving any advice if needed.

I'm not a Yankees fan, but the one player I do admire on that team is Derek Jeter. Sounds like you have a nice collection going and are collecting what you enjoy now, which is great. image
  • who are the 12 stars? just from the 64 set?

Yes, all from the 1964 set, The 6 I have so far.

    Warren Spahn
    Bob Gibson
    Duke Snider
    Ernie Banks
    Lou Brock
    Willie Stargell

    The ones I still want.

    Eddie Matthews
    Mickey Mantle
    Willie Mays
    Sandy Koufax
    Hank Aaron
    Roberto Clemente

I'm buying either PSA 7 or 8, except for the Mantle which is really expensive so I'll get a PSA 5 or 6.
  • whats up? I have been a long time collector now for about 25 years plus. I am into football cards only as of right now. I only collect rookies of stars and am currently try to complete my 1974 football set in psa 9 and 10. I didn't think putting together a 1974 set would be as tough as I thought. I collect 1974 because it is my birth year. I started the set last Nov. and only need 185 cards out of 528. So I have put a nice dent in it, but I have a long way to go. Thought I would share. What is your most prized piece in your collection?

  • I wish I had a signed Ted Williams memo. piece. Sounds more sentimental than a collectable.

Roger, I need Carlton Fisk PSA 10's from 87 and 88 Leaf for my player set. I'd pay handsomely for them if some of that is what you're opening.
