Colorful Canadians, photos courtesy of Brandon

I love the 1971-73 Canadian silver dollars, for the wildly psychedelic toning that they obtain, due to the case and foam
insert that they were issued in. For folks that love toning, they are an inexpensive way to get a fix. image I have almost 100 examples.

Big problem: I find them virtually impossible to image, at least with my equipment and ability. image So, I figured I'd try out
Brandon's photo services (poorguy here on the board). I'd seen his offerings on eBay and liked his work on colorful coins.
While I still think Mark Goodman is the undisputed master of coin photography, at $10 per coin his service gets a bit pricey
if you have large numbers of coins, or if the coins themselves are of nominal value.

Brandon offers 2 levels of services (verbage taken from his web site):

$5/coin - (Archiving Package) Digital 12 Megapixel images for archiving. You get an Image of the Obverse, an Image
of the Reverse, and an Image of the Slab. This package is great for those who want to crop and resize the image to suit their
own personal uses. These are the images that come directly from my camera. If you submit more than 40 coins, I pay shipping
to and from you. Please submit a minimum order of 5 coins for this service.

$20/coin - (eBay/Seller Package) Digital images for selling your coins on eBay. You get a Gallery Image 200x200px, a
Horizontal 535x260px image, a Vertical 535x1080px image, a Slab image of both the front and the back (required for eBay),
and the Original Photoshop format images of the front and back cropped. Add $5 for a description. If you submit more than
10 coins, I pay shipping to and from you. Please submit a minimum of 3 coins for this service.

Now, in my case, the $5/coin service is perfect, since I like having the flexibility to crop, size, and mask the images to my own tastes,
as well as tweak slightly if I see fit. I have no problems with image editing; it's the actual photography that causes me fits.
Also, his offer of paying shipping both ways if you submit more than 40 coins on that tier is an exceptional deal. The $5/coin
figure ends up being a net cost. I sent him 90 coins to image, and the shipping costs would have been over $50 each way.

I've only spot checked about 6 of the images, but they all look excellent. Furthermore, Brandon is quite fast. He turned the
90 coins around within a few days.

While I normally shoot my own coins, and enjoy doing so, for those types of coins that I just can't "get", this is infinitely preferable
to banging my head against a wall for hours only to still wind up with subpar results. image

Here are two examples. If there's a problem with the cropping and masking, blame me, not Brandon. image

Raw, actually. Wouldja believe that it came from a local dealer's scrap silver? image
