its amazing how nowadays 10000 of something is meaningless. released in today's product, that card wouldn't fetch $10. shows you just HOW MUCH of that crap was printed back then. so much that people had to open thousands of packs for an 'elite' type card. i opened at least ten thousand packs of donruss between 1990-1992 and never saw one....
I just picked up a 1992 Donruss Elite Frank Thomas card for a BIN of $11 and $2 shipping if I remember correctly. That's half or better of what they normally sell, so I thought, why not?
My point is, they can fetch at least $11 if the right player collector is watching

There was an easy trick to finding the early 90's Donruss Elite cards if you lived in a town with a large wholesaler like Sam's Club and a small handheld metal detector. I sent a letter to Beckett in '91 when they still answered you letters in the magazine. The same month my letter appeared in the baseball Beckett, the Donruss Elite were removed from the price guide.
I pulled the '92 Gary Sheffield in about 1996...it was like hitting the lottery at the time...I couldn't get more than $15 for it though...so I held it and finally traded it for a 1996 Zenith Diamond Club Albert Belle (with diamond). Just sold that card on the 'bay for $25...so basically, I made $10 in 12 years.
Wow.... 1992, what a great year for the production of baseball cards (sarcasm!!!)!
