I hope PCGS doesn't kill this thread since they don't certify Ancient coins.

no surprise to me really, they have already certified the most expensive ancients ever publicly sold, it seems a logical extension to open it up to accept more common ancients too.

Which were these? I've seen very few ancients in NGC holders and most were under $2000.00 each.

    Just curious.

they graded several that sold for well over six figures in the Millennia auction, with the highest being around $800k if i recall.

    here are a few
  • I welcome their entry into the field. However, I bought a few of the certified coins in Millenia sale and they were not slabbed - just photo certs - which was FINE by me. I can't photograph coins and don't like slabs.

  • This should be a boost for this section of the hobby, just as it has been for other collectible lines.

This is great news. Hopefully PCGS will also get into certifying ancients.

Ah, the Severus Alexander Colosseum aureus. I had no idea it was certified. Saw the headline when it sold a few months ago but never picked up on the fact that it was certified. Though I should have assumed considering the venue.
