1885 British Sovereign

Well, since I just found you, my mother had also collected three British Sovereigns. 2 1885 and 1 1887. All have St. George on the back. I know she loved her visits to the UK and she seemed to pick one up on each trip. (She was an amateur genealogist, also, and had found some distant family members in the UK.) I think the coins in general are not all that rare from what I have read, and seem to be work the .24 oz of gold. I have attached a picture of best looking one, which we, my sister and I, are thinking about giving to the distant cousin Mom visited on her trips. Any thoughts?

A nice coin which will make a nice present Binkmiester.

    1838-1901 Gold 22 carats (91.6%), 8 grams, 22mm Diameter.

Yours has an M under the bust of Victoria which indicates it was minted in Melbourne Australia.

It is listed as "common" on the rarity scale of my Sovereign book Daniel Fearon and Brian Reeds, but some of the earlier sovereigns as well as the Australian and Canadian mints sometimes seem harder to come by, then indicated.
