Agent: Greg Maddux intends to retire

I read off this off the LA Dodgers web site today, "Future Hall of Famer 'rather definitive' about decision"

From Dodgers site:
"I talked to Greg at the end of the season, and he said at this point, his intentions are not to play next year," Boras told a group of writers gathered around him.

Boras was then asked if Maddux could change his mind before Spring Training opens in about 15 weeks.

"I don't know," Boras said. "I think he was rather definitive about his statement, and my belief from his point of view is that he will retire."

------------------End of story

OK EVeryone, The question is not whether Maddox is a HOF, but is he a first ballot HOF? I say YES.

  • I saw that today and have been crying ever since.
  • I think Boras should be called Boras not agent....just joking.

Yes, in my opinion, and part due to the steroid period factor, there is a lack of good HOF'ers the next 10 years. So some that might not be a first year will be, and some that should not get in, will.

The guy won 350 games. He may be the first unanimous HOFer. Any idiot that doesn't vote for him the first time around should be shot.
  • My all time favorite pitcher from my generation and a nice guy to boot. I hope he decides to stay in baseball after retirement as a pitching coach and one day a manager.

I don't think that there has been a player in my lifetime that was more of a 1 ballot LOCK than Maddux!

As far as I'm concerned he clinched his HOF plaque 12 years ago.
