  • Sorry I do not but, they look cast to me so possibly a copy of something.

I am sure a more experienced member will come along soon with an answer.

Since they do not have a date or denomination on them, I would suspect that it is not a coin , but a token or jetton maybe.
  • Found the one on left

I believe it is Obverse E -Reverse 5

    Also have Obverse F- Reverse-6

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Now I wish I could figure out the one with the Lion.
  • the one on the right is especially peculiar, because the reverse design looks like something you would see on a 14th-15th century french jetton (shield of arms with fleur de lis). Yet I have never seen a jetton with that kind of dragon obverse, and with no legends either. Also, I assume the piece is nickel to quarter size in diameter-- not the usual size of a medieval jetton either. So it COULD be a latter-day maverick token, struck to look old...or maybe a little known privately made medieval french token or jetton.

  • Yeah that one is just smaller than a Quarter. Brass and very thin. The lot of coins I bought these in were all early to mid 1800's.
Well It will give me something to look for on the internet while watching election returns. Dragon instead of a lion maybe that will help.
Thanks for the name fleur de lis. That may help me find it.
    I enjoy the hunt.

The right hand piece could be from Belgium or the "Lowcountries" / Spanish Netherlands / etc. I seem to recall seeing that design before.

    Also check Nuremburg jettons.

I'm leaning towards a jeton of some kind, because there are design elements from two different countries. It's got the shield of fleur-de-lys on one side, in a very similar layout to that found on early Sicilian gold coins, while on the other it's got the two-tailed lion of Bohemia, as seen on coins like the Joachimsthaler.

I don't think it's a Nuremberg jeton; those normally have the maker's name on them. Jetons normally have something written on them; this has no text at all.

  • Mark,
The left-hand one is an anonymous trader's currency token from England, possibly from Essex.
