<< <i>Good news for me as a Sixers fan. Detroit will now be a non-factor in the east. >>
Detroit will now be something like 34 million under the salary cap in the next year or two. Assuming that Billups-Iverson is a wash from a win-share perspective (probably not entirely true, but likely close), Detroit has not appreciably hurt its prospects for this year (which were marginal to begin with) but have set themselves up very nicely for a run at Chris Bosh, or someone similar.
I guess Dumars thinks that groups has gone as far as it could go. This must be about a salary cap dump, why would you bring a cancer to a team that plays well together.

Because Chauncey is washed up (much as I love him), the team is going nowhere this year, Iverson will put fannies in the seats at the Palace, and his $21 million and Rasheed's $14 million will come off the books in June.
The real question is why Denver would agree to this. Seriously, someone needs to tell Joe D. to put away the gun and the mask when he's hashing out deals with other G.M's.

The Pistons games are always sold out, so I don't see him bringing in more fans to see the games. he will however, add to a potent lineup playing opposite the upcoming star Rodney Stuckey. This was a fantastic trade for the Pistons.

That's a good point. I should have said that it would renew the excitement in the Pistons, which has been sorely lacking for the last year or so.
