Potential bidder telling me my card was overgraded

We all like to complain about our cards being graded low, but I had a question on a card that was a little unexpected. Here is the question I got on the card I have listed:

"Give me some more details on the condition of this card. From your photo, there appears to be three issues; 1)several white marks above the clouds that shouldn't be there, 2)discolored bottom right corner, & 3)distressed bottom left corner. Maybe some of this is just a bad photo. You couldn't have all those things wrong and be a PSA5"

Well I guess I was just lucky to get that 5 wasn't I? I had about 15 different replies ready and then I simply went with "What do you want me to say?"

Got to love someone with too much time on their hands going through Ebay, grading cards mentally, and Emailing the sellers when they don't agree with the grader.

    Just send him this;

WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU STALKING ME??

Then be sure to block him image

Based on my experience, the CORRECT response to such inquiries is NONE.

I immediately throw the person on the BBL, and delete their message.

I am not remotely interested in discussing PSA-standards with buyers.
The seller is ONLY obligated to accurately describe the item, and ship
it in the condition it was described. Potential buyers can pass, if they
don't like the item; there is NOTHING I can do to "help them" justify
    PSA's grading opinions.

LOTS of folks are lonely and want to have a new pen pal. I am really
    not available for that chore.

I waste my time as I see fit and I won't be forced to waste it on others' terms.

Storm hit the nail on the head!

That particular buyer would be trouble no matter how you answered.

    BBL and move on!

I sent a pic of a card that I saw on Ebay to PSA once and asked them how it got a 9.

But asking the seller??? That's just ridiculous.

    Well is it?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • This seems to be a common thread topic recently. I guess I am lucky it hasn't happened to me yet. As much as we complained about certain sellers getting 10's on cards that we don't think are 10's, never thought how it would feel if I was the being questioned about the grade.

Maybe you should just tell him the common mantra here, "Buy the card, not the grade".

Is it a PSA 5, yes it is. Could it have been a PSA 4 on another day, in another life, a parallel universe, I think we all know the answer is Yes even without seeing the card. Here it is since you are curious image

Looks like an ok 5, but it could never ever be confused with a 6.

At least the centering looks decent. Top to bottom is off more than side to side but still looks okay.

I also notice Sable Palms in the backround. I'm guessing it's a spring training pic from down here in Florida.

Can anyone verify this? It would be interesting to know. I know the Cards spring training home was Saint Petersburg for many years.

Looks like there is some surface scuffing in the clouds, a little extra wear on the lower left and some staining on the lower right. I've seen worse in a PSA 5 and I think the person that asked the question is right about what they noticed, but I think he's a dolt for sending you a question on it. The card has no shot at a bump, so what was his point? It's not like it is a '52 Mantle. The price tag isn't worth the hassle. Add him to the BBL and move on.

Check out this auction. This has a question about the card indicating undergrading.

    Undergraded Card?

This potential buyer has a strange perception on reality. Sounds like potential trouble. Whatever grade PSA gives is PSA's responsibility. The Seller must only provide photos of front and back of the slabbed card and mention if the holder is scratched or not (some buyers care about this and they have a right too as well).

Just put this guy on the BBL.

Sounds like someone that I would not like winning my auctions. How about sharing his eBay ID so we can avoid the possibility of having to deal this individual.
