Is the NFC better now?

Just had a look at the standings, and there are 12 of 16 NFC teams that are .500 or better, with just the Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, (yuck NFC west) and Lions (winless!) sub .500.

Meanwhile, in the AFC, you have half the teams sub .500 (Indy could move to .500 with a win tonight). The AFC west is just as miserable as its NFC counterpart, with the division leader at .500 and the other 3 all under .500.

Has the power shifted back to the NFC after an extended AFC dominant period? Indy's drop off, combined with SD underperforming, along with Jax and Cleveland disappointing tells me, at least, that the NFC is now the better conference.

I would say yes tentatively, with the realization that there really is not a good team in the whole NFL - only mediocre ones. Only Tennessee is very good (not great). Everyone else could beat anyone on a particular day (except Detroit)

I think you have to put the Giants in that discussion, too. Very physical team with a great running game and very underrated defense.

I'll give you that one, but none of these teams are beating the 85 Bears, 94 49ers or 04 Patriots. Even the good teams are not great.

The NFC may have surpassed the AFC this year, and I think the Giants are favorites to win the Super Bowl.
