Trimmed or not trimmed?

I've got the bid right now as I like to gamble. Just looking for some opinions if I were to crack and submit to PSA.

  • I will repeat a common statement here. If it were really a 9 and not trimmed, it would already be in a PSA, BGS or SGC holder.

Edit to add that I do like the sellers user name.

so it isn't at all possible that someone that didn't know any better had some good cards and chose CSA because it was so much cheaper than PSA or BGS?
  • Since the value in a PSA 9 holder would be 5 to 10 x's more than CSA, I don't think it would hurt to spend a few bucks extra to find out if it was trimmed.

The back of the card has quite a few bright spots on some the corners and edges. I may well be wrong , but that's how I see it.

It's possible if you count 1 in 100,000 is a statistical probability. But I agree with Bill. However, a MORE LIKLEY scenario is that it was sent to PSA ONCE and rejected but not sent to either SGC or BGS. You may have luck with them - then if so, you could try a crossover to PSA. Not a horrible gamble.
  • Look at the sellers feedback. Almost all his recent items sold are PSA, SGC or GAI graded cards with most being PSA.

I believe it is probally trimmed, I sent in 4 cards all graded by CSA, to PSA and they were all trimmed.
  • Card also does not fit snuggly in the holder. T/B looks way short.

I saw that to. I am never going to buy anther card graded by them after sending 4 to psa and all coming back trimmed

did you crack them out of the csa holder or just send them in for crossover?
  • Just curious why you would ask for opinions after you were already the high bidder?

If you pay with PayPal and a credit-card, you can send it to PSA real fast
and file a SNAD if it has been messed with.

"No Returns On Graded Cards," is reasonable with reputable TPGs and
decent pictures. The subject seller has neither one going for him.

I am about 100% sure there is a "reason" that it is not in a good slab.

yeah, I probably should have sought opinions first, but like I said, I like to gamble and a hundred or so dollars is almost like nothing isn't it?

I guess that depends on what pool you swim in.

I swim in the $100 on a card is significant pool. It's fairly shallow LOL

I cracked them out, I thought that they all looked good. PSA thought different. Two of the cards were Mantles.

CSA used to be a pretty good TPG, however, that has now gone by the wayside.

    Hopefully you will be outbid.

If you're having second thoughts just cancel your bid with the reason being that you entered the wrong amount.

In a related thought, why would anyone ever bid earlier than 5 seconds before an auction ends?

It may be shallow, but it has more people in it than you would think.
  • If I spent $100 on a Mantle rookie right now, I would only be able to talk to you peeps using the computer at the library because I would be divroced and homeless.

I didn't mean that $100 wasn't a good amount of money to spend. I just meant in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a lot to gamble on.

I asked the seller if I could pay his fees and take a pass on the card since everyone said it was definitely trimmed.

I don't know how you could tell either way from those scans. They're terrible for trying to see whether or not the card has a wavy edge or other EOT.

There's no way to tell whether the card is trimmed from the scans provided or by using the holder environment as a mesuring template. That being said, odds are that it is in a CSA holder for a reason and that reason is that it won't make it into a PSA holder.
  • If you already won the card crack it and submit it to psa. While it is true that it is in a CSA holder for a reason, that being it was already rejected once by psa. No matter. don't kid yourself. there are plenty of trimmed cards that make it into psa holders.

  • Looks trimmed on the right side starting about the middle of the card. Easier to tell on the back picture - at the top it fits the holder perfectly and at the bottom there's a gap. Doesn't look like a gamble to me, looks like a sure bet. Trimmed.

    But then I'm basically blind.
