Why, was GA Tech ranked in the top 5?

Ok, I'll say it. I'm a Penn St supporter, but I think Texas Tech should leapfrog them. The schedule they've played is WAY harder.

No, because they played a true cupcake in FSU today and won.

TTech should leapfrog Penn State, USC and Florida. I think for the moment Alabama MOVES INTO THE NUMBER ONE spot.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

wait, Alabama plays Arkansas St and moves to the #1 spot while TT, with the same record lays wood to Texas and doesn't?

    No

Communist Joe, the Big Twelve does the conference scheduling, not Texas. They didn't have a choice, had to play Texas Tech.

    These voters can image

Penn State should clearly be #2 image

Well at least it's not the final poll, so I'm not gonna worry about it now.

    Should be? Clearly?

Texas Tech is undefeated and just beat the #1 team, their second ranked opponent win in a row. Penn State has played one top 25 team all year. PSU has had a nice year, but TT should be ranked higher now.

That was one of the best college games I've seen in years.
The Big 12 puts on a really good show, every year (usually) !

Don't remind me about what happened to my Huskers image

KU demolished K-State but that didn't get them back in the top 25. Just shows how far K-State has fallen, can't get any respect for beating them anymore. They're headed back to a pre Bill Snyder brand of football. image

I was figuring I would be flipping channels between Texas-Texas Tech and OU- Nebraska, had it on ABC to start with and shortly after the game started they showed the other score, OU 28-0 with over nine minutes left in the first quarter! image I decided no need to flip channels anyway. image

Texas Tech would blow Bama away....is Bama's toughest game minus the championship game a crappy LSU team? What a joks.

Yes, Texas Tech beat Texas, but on a lucky last second touchdown - they should not pass Penn State in the polls over a game like that. The voters don't have as bad of an Eastern school bias as they used to, but obviously it's still there to some extent.

The reason they're #2 in the polls is schedule pure and simple, and not just the schedule they've already played. They have #9 OK St and #4 Oklahoma their next two games. Are you going to seriously tell me they shouldn't play for the national title if they win those two games and go undefeated? Hey, I like Penn St, but no freaking way. Not in a weak Big 10 should they be ranked ahead of Texas Tech.

    Come on, 'lucky'?

A win's a win, and beating #1 while remaining undefeated should be rewarded, and it has been - TT is #2 in both AP and BCS rankings.

The real questions should be, will Saban run and hide once his undefeated Tide get spanked by the Gators and exposed?

Steve, any team that beats the #1 team in the nation should leapfrog over whatever fraudulent Big 11 team is currently running the table. The Nittany Lions are my second favorite Big 11 team ( I do love my Spartans), but come on-- it makes no sense for PSU to be ranked above TT right now. Now, you could make a case that PSU should be ranked above 'Bama, but not the Red Raiders.

Guy - I am so used to Penn State historically getting screwed in the polls, that perhaps I'm not seeing this current poll correctly so I'll take your word for it. But Penn State getting screwed many times in the polls is a stone cold historical fact which has been written about many times by knowledgeable sportswriters and I realize "knowledgeable sportswriters" may be an oxymoron - LOL

But again, my blood ain't boiling yet because there's still a ways to go in this thing.

PS: If the Democrats get their landslide on Tuesday, and it appears that way that they might, I think you'll finally see online poker legalized in the US...Barney Frank will get his way, I have little doubt about that. Still won't be any sports betting allowed though - that's not even debatable...not even the Democrats are going to touch that.

With "giants" such as Yahoo and MGM, probably AOL and others virtually assured in my opinion of quickly jumping in, it will basically spell the death of those "offshore" poker websites located in the Caribbean....and it could happen fast...be careful not to keep too much money in those offshore poker website accounts because if they go under quickly, there's no doubt the players won't ever get their deposited money back - it'll be gone. And with these "giant" companies offering rake free (which I expect they will) and a legitimate RNG, I will no longer be writing about the unbeatability of online poker.

This is all from memory so a bit cloudy but texas tech had a chance to spike the ball with the clock in the mid to upper 20s and I was surprised that they did not do it. On what turned out to be the winning TD to crabtree, i'm surprised they didn't take a short gain and kick for the win. Perhaps because of their 'out of the stands' kicker.
Like Gregg Easterbrook (I think) says on tuesday morning QB- every team needs a madden player clock management specialist.

Easterbrook is a tool, maybe the worst sportswriter out there now (next to Jemele Hill). If he said that, he plagarizing (sp?) Bill Simmons, because Simmons has been writing that for years now.

    Hi Steve,

It will be interesting to see how things pan out. FWIW I haven't played a hand of online poker since November of last year, so I don't have any 'skin in the game', as they say.
