The National

Who typically goes to the National and do you guys get together and try at the same hotel/party together throughout the course of the week. Being a member since August, I would love to put a face with some of the names I correspond with on a fairly regular basis. I am going to Cleveland, am curious as to who else is planning on going, and where is the best place to stay. I am already getting excited!

When is the National next year? Is it in Cleveland again? I might consider going to see if I can finish some of the holes in my signed rookie card collection and also use it as a general vacation.

Hey on another note, I have a package coming to you on Monday with some opened Bowman Chrome cards and a few dozen lights for some of the kids you work with! Let me know when it arrives. I hope I am providing enough for everyone, Let me know if you need more!

Matt,
I appreciate it. I'm flying to Las Vegas on Tuesday, but I'll be back late Friday night so it will probably beat me to the house, but I have someone taking care of my packages for me while I'm gone.
Take care,
Mike
<< <i>I live in Cleveland...well Parma, a suburb of Cleveland...and I will be there! The I-X center, where the National is held, is about 10 minutes from my house..almost too convenient for my wallets liking! >>
BigDaddyBowman,
Is there a lot of family type stuff in the area that my kids (ages 10 and 4) and wife might enjoy while I'm at the show? Is it a relatively safe area? Good food?

Much safer than South Bend unless it is Saturday in the fall. Most visitors at that time leave unharmed.

Unfortunately Notre Dame Stadium was a safe place for Pittsburgh today. Great game though. Wish I had been there to drown my sorrows with some Bruno's pizza.
South Bend was actually a pretty safe place my four years there. Just had to use some common sense (like not walking down the streets alone and drunk on the way back to campus after parties). Some of the kids had some problems with some of the kids from the town, but most of that was caused by a combination of jealousy from a few local kids not having the opportunity to go to ND, and arrogance from a few ND kids acting classless towards the residents.

I was at the BCS titel game in NO in January. Did not realize how rude and obnoxious our fans are until then. In Baton Rouge on any given Saturday in fall, the behavior of our fans is kind of expected to bea certain way. For the title game, they were down right abusive to the Ohio St fans.
On a side note, the Ohio St fans were as polite and friendly as they could be. Sorry to temporarily derail the thread Matt.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

If your family are amusement park type of people....Cedar Point is in Sandusky which is about 45 minutes North West from the National. Cedar Point is one of the top parks in the country...often being rated as the #1 park for roller coasters. Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is about 10 minutes away in downtown Cleveland and Hard Rock Cafe, Great Lakes Science Center (next door to Rock Hall on Lake Erie) and Pro Football Hall in Canton is about 45 minutes South East. Browns will be in camp in Berea which is about 5 minutes away from the IX center.
