I just got back from the show a few minutes ago. I went with a guy I met on the Net 54 board and we had a great time. I was able to submit a card to PSA for reholdering, score an auto from Jonathan Papelbon and Yogi Berra. I also was able to shake Tony Gywnns hand and speak to him for a moment.

The place was packed full of people and dealers. I was surprised to see so much vintage and there was a fair share of shiny new stuff to be found. I didn't find any real bargains to be had, but then again I was only there for about 4 hours. I didn't have time to really comb over each table. I was able to score something I had wanted for a while, a wooden seat from Milwaukee County stadium. But there was very little game used items there.

I'm not up to date on pricing, but what I did see that I was familiar with was priced a bit high. And the biggest drawback and the thing that bugged me the most was no pricing on a lot of dealers tables. I got to the point where if stuff was not priced, I didn't stop to look or ask. There was a nice variety of cards there, I'm sure I could have spent a ton of money there if I stayed any longer.

When you go, give yourself time to look around because it will take awhile. When you get back, please let us know how it went and what you thought. I would love to hear another perspective. Have a great time!

I'm not sure what time it ended, I got there around 11 and left a bit after 3. I got Yogi to sign a ball, which is NOT what I had originally had planned. I bought a Yogi pic on Ebay that I had never seen before in early October. The guy sent it to me and he had printed it backwards. Yogi did not bat right handed and New York was backwards. So I told him and he said he would send a correct one out the next day (2+ weeks ago) and I never got it. So I had a spare baseball kicking around and decided to go with that. I had Jonathan sign a painting of him I bought a year or two ago. I posted a pic of it once on here but most people did not like it. I guess art is like most things, we all have our different taste. But I will take a pic and post it. And I've got to bring the seat up from the truck today, I will take a pic as soon as I do. My wife doesn't know about that.....yet. image

You got FOUR Fenway seats coming?? I HATE you!! Just kidding. image That is tops on my want list, but I just couldn't afford them this year. You better post pics of them when you get them so I can be jealous. The Milwaukee seat was at a price where I couldn't do any better factoring in shipping if I bought it online. It will fit in nicely in my man room with my Milwaukee Braves/Carl Willey collection.

Wow, did you go to a show at the Bangor Mall? Because that is what I usually find when I go to a local show, a bunch of crap! It is exactly that reason why I drove 4.5 hours each way to the show yesterday. I had never been to a show that size and it was worth every second. I guess they are doing another one in June which I will probably hit also. Sure, it's a long drive, but to me it is well worth it.

You know Rube, I asked Yogi about your card and he said, "I sold it to a dealer and they gave me cash, which is as good as money!" image
Are Fezs those funny looking hats? If so, then yes there were a lot of those around. Most of those guys were nice and really helpful.

Went yesterday, saw tons of PSA cards for 150% of book plus. Saw millions of raw cards 99% of which were for sale at over graded prices. Managed to get my Justin Masterson, Game Worn, Portland Sea Dogs jersey signed for $49.

Only bought one item, a 2000 Detroit Tigers game worn road jersey. Who's jersey? Phil Garner, the manager.

Nice scores! Was the Garner rolled up on a table with other jerseys? I saw a Sox jersey with the proper tagging but didn't ask the price. The game used bats I looked at, JD Drew for $300 and Wade Boggs for $500 were a bit too high for me.

If you can, please post pics of both jerseys.

Here are the pics of the items I got signed and picked up yesterday. I also took pictures of Yogi and Jonathan signing the items. PSA was authenticating for $10 which was a good deal, but you needed to bring the item and your autograph ticket to them. The only problem with that was they took the ticket from you as you went to get the item signed. So I ended up skipping the authentication, my pics are good enough.

Garner was from the same guy with the other Tigers, I looked through his pile of COAs and picked a good name at an even better price, Garner was in a tub behind the table, but the COA was in the pile in the showcase. Wait 'til Clemaz sees it!
Just quicky pics for today. Masterson before and after auto, and the Garner, front and back, great wash wear on the tags and the Tigers 2000 patch on the sleeve.

Told the guy that I needed at least the stub for the Masterson auto ticket. Got my stub back with the date and Masterson's name on it, along with a business card from his publicity agent. Said if I email he will send a real COA. PSA shouldn't get any $$ from the deal. The auto was $49 as it is. I think pretty fast on my feet, and I usually get what I need.

Just part of the game. They know you are interested if you take the time to ask, and they look you over before quoting a starting price. Leave the Rolex, shirt and tie at home. Dress like a slob and you'll save $$ in the long run. It comes naturally for me, usually too lazy to even get dressed, when I do it is something really simple, jeans and a T-shirt if you're lucky.

Nice jerseys! The game used Tigers is cool, but the Masterson is awesome. I don't think he will be signing at that price this time next year, I think that kid is gonna be good. Did you have to wait in line long? I only had to wait about 45 minutes or so.

I wish I had thought in my toes like you did, but I was juggling stuff and was just anxious to put it all back in the truck and take my jacket off. I'm not selling and I got pics so that will do.

I agree with you about the sellers. I was in jeans and a tee and asked a few different sellers prices (HIGH!) and a few of them were a bit rude. One gave me crap because after he gave me the price I said the Cobb he had was out of my price range. He started in saying that your gonna pay big money for big HOF'ers and that I wasn't gonna find someone of that calibur for cheap. Well no kidding! If he had prices on his items, I would not have asked. Most of the stuff I asked about was items I had no idea what the values were. I was just seeing if a card that caught my eye was affordable for me. Needless to say, most were not. image

Got there at 9:10, waited about 5 minutes to buy the ticket, got #47. Shopped the tables until 11 when they started calling #s, went out to truck, got the jersey, waited about 3 minutes in line with it and got it done. Went back to the show for another hour or so, then took the kid to Wendy's for lunch. No waiting at all, just an easy day.

It's nice when you can walk around and not search too hard for stuff to flip for cash. There aren't any graded deals there for the most part. I can make more $$ by buying and selling on ebay, it isn't worth the effort to search out deals unless you are buying raw and self submitting.

It's a great show for the "end user" the amount of good material present is very deep.

I usually go all three days, but I was SO turmed off by pricing I didnt go back. EVERYTHING was 150% or MORE over pricedAlso, they figured out how to RUIN the show, a ridculous amount of autograph guests and there will be another show added in June, prolly just to get the auto seekers in the door, it really hurts the dealers.

I swear dealers had the same inventory from last year. I had some low pops for Levi and he wasnt buying??? The economy MUSt be bad!!lol I did see an S81 silks PILLOW case with 5 players including Mathewson, Cobb, Baker, Speaker and O'Toole, similar to those on the S81 Silks going for 3500. It was probably worth it, a very beautiful piece and I had never even heard of one!

I sold one of my t9's to a dealer for $250, with a 5$ admission and a 2$ ice cream I was still ahead. Aside from the cute girl at the Psa booth (hi Sonya) I was not impressed. i didnt even bother going back to submit any cards, I'd just rather pay the few bucks in shipping when I have a larger order in the coming months.
