lincoln cent matte proof book

Trying to get the book on the Lincoln Cent Matte Proof book by mid November
to have it available at FUN.

Most of the book is complete. Still need a few coins to complete photographs
of all diagnostics.

I will be printing softcover and hardbounds.

A few leather bound books will be custom printed ($300), but only for those which are preordered.
Please let me know before November 17 if anyone is interested.

Will be making a list of those coins I still need over the weekend.

Thanks
Kevin

I am definitely interested in the hard back. Are you going to post some information on availability and cost?

    Dear All-

Thank you. We are going to be finalizing our book costs ASAP, so we can judge the appropriate order numbers. All interested people who pre-order will be helping, as we want to avoid ordering too many copies to be printed on the one hand, or being in the position were we have people who want books, but have to wait due to a low initial estimate, on the other.

So we will be back to the group with book prices and special offers for early order commitments, which seems fair to all. Thank you again, very much. We believe and are confident that this book is going to fill in many gaps in the present literature, and build upon the L. Albrecht pamphlet from the early 1980s in a most significant way.

And as most of you are aware, the Albrecht pamphlet is literally +/- 15 pages, and can only be purchased on eBay for roughly $15.00!! We are going to offer much, much more value than that for our respective customers. Clearly, there has been a lot of information gathered in the last 25 years which is highly relative to the MPL series, and with 2009 upon us, and the Matte Lincoln coin prices sky-rocketing, the timing of this book is probably overdue. The good news is that this comprehensive diagnostic and MPL specific book is almost complete, which is exciting for anyone interested in the Matte Proof Lincoln Series for any number of reasons.

We will be communicating soon to the interested grader/dealer/collector groups with some viable prices and purchase strategies, and look foward to your feedback.

    Sincerely yours,
    The MPL Book Development Group

We are shooting for the following retail prices on the book will be

    Softcover $29.95
Hardcover $90.00 (only printing around 50)
Leather $300.00 (only pre-orders, this is done as some people like to collect special editions of books)

    Pre-orders would probably be
    Softcover $22.95
    Hardcover $75.00

We will start preorders only when we are positive we are going to print.

    Thanks for all your help

I volunteered to have Kevin Flynn come over and view my MPL collection this week and take whatever photos he wanted for his book. I was surprised to find out that my 1914 PR65RD was the "rare" (according to Kevin Flynn and later Brian Wagner), Albrecht Obverse 1, no die scratches below the chin. I wasn't aware of this beforehand, but now have looked at a lot of the images of 1914 MPL’s on Heritage's site and see the "die scratches" on most of the 1914's. Not sure if you can easily see this in below image, but am posting my 1914 in case anyone is interested. Brian currently owns one as well and sent on comparison image of that coin vs one he has owned in the past with the more common obverse. This was not my favorite MPL, but I kind of like the historical significance of it now. Hopefully Kevin Flynn or Brian Wagner can comment further on this subject matter.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks again for allowing me to view and photograph your coins.
You had an incredible matte proof collection, gorgeous color and eye appeal.

On the 1914s, in researching for this book, the later die state with the
die scratches under the chin were much more frequently found than the
early die state without the scratches.

    Thanks
    Kevin
