1961 D 5c Jefferson.............grade please

Steps are no good I know....................opinions on grade please.

i do not know this series very well but here is my guess.

not a 65 due to weak strike so that leaves me with a guess of 64.

ooh, i did not see that rim ding the first time around on the rev.
i am going to now say solid 63 territory with a shot 64.

(knowing my luck there is wear on the coin in some area i do not
know how to interpret the pics to see and it is 58 :-| ).

I am a Registry Set participant and know the series fairly well. IMO this will grade MS64. It has a very slim chance of
garnering a 65 due to the weak strike and aforementioned rim ding. The first column on Monticello is nearly non existant.

Sumadora, Let me add, that if the reverse had been struck slightly better, It would go 65 due to the lack of contact marks on both the obverse and reverse. Shag

with both your posts. Two minutes later... after looking at known MS65s... it just might go 65... even with the rim ding.

I agree that its probably a 64, but its strike appears above average for a 61-D.

I shouldn't disagree with the experts but I think it'll get the
bump for a tough date and go 65. It's not a lock.
