This was a fairly high mintage when compared with many other dates in this series and it is somewhat common in the lower grades.
At the time of publication of his book on the Seated Quarters in 1992, Larry Briggs listed 3 different Obverses and 5 different Reverses.
He stated that only 4 reverse dies had been reportedly sent to the New Orleans mint for this year, yet he had listed 5, that he had identified.
At this time, I have 1853-O Quarters with 8 different reverses in my collection.
In his book, Larry listed this variety with the filled mint mark as Obv 3, Rev E.
Larry had not seen this in the earlier die state when he published his work.
I posted a link to a picture of the early die state in the previous thread that you linked.
In 2007, the Liberty Seated Collectors Club conducted a survey of it's members on the Seated Quarters.
82 members returned their surveys, reporting a total of 5061 coins.
21 respondents had 100 or more Seated Quarters. One member reported over 500. (That was me. I own over 700.)
The 1853-O had 70 examples reported. Of those 70 reported, 8 were the filled mint mark variety.
The lowest reported variety of 1853-O was the variety with the O repunched over a horizontal O, with 5 reported.
Opinions vary, but I think the filled mintmark variety is actually rarest.
It's easily seen, whereas the O/horiz O requires a loupe to see the mispunched under digit.
I think some number of the O/horiz O are not identified, especially those that pass through Ebay, with the lousy pictures a lot of sellers have.
The premium for this filled mint mark variety in this late die state is less than for an early die state coin.
The Liberty Seated Quarters is a series that is chock full of varieties. Many of them are very rare. There are so few collectors of these though, that they don't fetch much of a premium.
