My Dansco 7070 - Page One

Clicking the link will take you to a small site with pictures of page one of my Dansco 7070. There are pics of the entire page, and each coin individually. I have been trying to take pictures of the whole album, and I am making progress. When I shoot the rest of it I will post it. Looking at them all blown up as certainly made ME hate them now......but I'd love to hear what YOU think.

Also, you're the only one other than myself to use a 1980-S Lincoln in their set!! I broke a 1980 Proof set for mine as the first 6 coins used in my set as that is my birth year. Seemed an easy start. Not everyone here believes in using proof coins mixed in with the circulateds in the 7070 set, so heads up on that!!
Can't wait to see the rest of the pages...

<< <i>Very nice! Great look to the coins posted so far. I really like your Classic Head Half Cent, just has a great look to it.

That's funny! I was born in 1980 too and did the same exact thing - seemed a good way to fill the "to date" holes. I used special year coins for a bunch of the spaces. For instance - on this page I used a 1958RD Penny because 58 is my Mom's birth year. Did little stuff like that throughout the set. I also used proof coins whenever I could reasonably do so. Used the 84 Olympics as my commerative dollar, and broke up a bicentennial proof set for the bicentennial section.
Thanks for noticing the half cent. Cracked that one out of a PCGS slab a long time ago. My favorite on this page though is the Classic Large cent. THOSE are freaking hard to find. Seems like the only ones that exist are either super duper expensive MS pieces or corroded, scratched, falling apart nightmares. I was happy to find a porous but clearly detailed example that fit the rest of my cents. Snagged it on ebay for like 15 bucks if I remember right because the seller didn't put up any pictures.

I also used a '56 Proof Washington Quarter (Dad's birth year) and a '57 Proof Franklin (Mom's birth year)
Also did my entire Bicentennial/Modern page in proofs, thought that looked cool that way.
Here's the link to my post I did on my set as of a couple of months ago. I have since abandoned my efforts to do the set in high graded coins, but instead am keeping the nice ones slabbed and going for nice looking raw circulateds in my 7070 now. My 7070 Link Good luck!!
