MS67 vs MS68 State Quarters???
I just looked through a bunch of Alaska State quarters and found the best two of the bunch. As a side note I also went through several rolls of the presidential dollars and pulled out the best of the batch.
I see that the MS68 numbers are very few, that MS67s are generally worth the grading fees and that MS66s are a waste of money. What have you found is required for a MS68 grade? How many marks are allowed for MS68 vs MS67?
Looking at the current pop report for the Denver Alaska Business strikes, 39047, I see 7 65s, 14 66s, 76 67s and only 2 68s, a total of 99 graded.
If anyone as a photo of some MS68s to post and showing the imperfections that are MS68 quality that would be even better. Any photos that I would post would not be good enough for the small detail needed.

I mean for Business strike coins at PCGS.
<< <i>If you can see it, it won't make 68.

I was wondering about that... Now What about if you hold it in the light just right you can see it but otherwise you need a glass to see it? Or is that what a 67 is?
Thanks for the reply. OK, break time is over and back to work I go...

Use the certified 66's as a benchmark. I do not understand why more people do not do this.

<< <i>Why not just buy a couple of the 66's for real cheap, then just look for coins that are better then them?

........................or you could buy one MS68, and then save the cost of submissions if other quarters don't measure up to it.

So why not wait a couple of months, get the 66's and learn, then make a submission?
Theres going to be more then enough dogs in the pound, why contribute to making more of them, if you do not have to?
my pics are lousy but you can see very few hits.
These came out of $25 Mint bags.

I don't have a MS68 for you to compare, but here is
my MS67. Hope this helps some.

I think we may have another MS68 or two but running out of time for now
For a $50 investment I think I will make my own samples for comparing to. I doubt I will get a 68 however they might have a chance. After looking things over again I think that I have two quarters and one dollar that are worth sending in. Three coins out of about 1500 searched.
Found another we made
