Mint reminds me of the Army...

So my Plats order is "on hold" from the 22nd. My order from the 24th is "in process." Same credit card used.
I call the US Mint and talk to a robot for 5 minutes before it tells me that the call center is CLOSED and will open up at 8am. (I look at my watch and it's quarter to NINE.)
I return to the website and track my order which is both now "on hold."
I wait an hour and call the US Mint back to confer with an actual human being, who tells me that my order will automatically be cancelled, due to a problem with my credit card, or rather the robots that authorize the credit card to be used at my other financial institution. It seems my bank didnt want me spending needlessly on these low mintage issues.
So I offer another card to which she responds, "You'll have to place your order again as I cannot accept another card."
"But you will accept it on a new order?"
"That's correct."
So, I lose my place in line waiting for the order which is "on hold," but what that really means is something totally different. "Hold on!" is more like it, because dealing with the Mint has been an enigmatic hurricane. Waiting in wonder to kick the legs out from the table you're eating your breakfast on.
Since when did "in stock and reserved" become "You don't know it yet, but we're screwing you..."?
It all reminds me of my days in the service where one thing became another rather quickly. The way the Mint is running things, their director must have been a damned four star general.

The problem is that you broke the first rule of Army life: DON'T VOLUNTEER!
