I Gotta Believe Seller Of Clemente Rookie Is Leaving $$$ On The Table ...

Back in March 2008, a 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 7.5 sold for $3,738.00 (Item No. 360028142024 - Link Is Dead). Subsequently, the same Clemente Rookie found it's way back on ebay in September 2008 and sold for $3,800.00, but the transaction was never completed as the buyer has been NARUed.

Now the same Clemente Rookie PSA 7.5 is back on ebay. However, I believe the seller is leaving $$$ on the table by using such a horrible scan. (See first scan below.) I suspect this because I saved the image from the March 2008 auction and that is such a crisper looking picture. (See second scan below.)

P.S. Of course, there may be a reason why the seller is using such a poor scan, but I'm not going to go there ... yet.

Just another perfect example of a seller that possibly thinks people will pay top money for the slab. That's too bad because that card is sweet. From looking at the sellers ratings he did sell a high grade Mantle recently, wonder what year and grade it was?

The seller posted a new scan of the card. Curious, it is the EXACT same scan from the previous auction, to wit:

I wonder if this is HIS scan of the card or just an image of the card taken from the previous transaction. The seller is local to me. I think I'll email him and inquire into an in person inspection of the card.

  • The original sale you refer to was the one I purchased and still own...It can be seen in my set on the registry, The one you are refering to sold along with the koufax in march and then I guess the buyer never paid.
The smudge is on the scan (on bottom right) not card. The card is clean and stunning and I am very happy with the card.

I told my girlfriend that when I get back from Iraq I'm blowing a bunch of hazzard pay...and that card in that condition will be one of them.
