Anyone familiar with these books? (about commems)

I was at an old book shop last week, and they had a "coin section". A lot of old junk books (old Krause, Redbooks, etc) but I looked through everything they had and these books seemed full of information on Classic Commems. This is not an area I am in to, but are these references used commonly these days? The books were older, but looked to be packed full of good information.

The one above is a reference along with the later volume by Bowers.

I'd pass on the Slabaugh.

The book by Swiatek and Breen is a must have if you collect classic commemoratives. It is hard to find at a good price these days. I refer to mine often.

The Encyclopedia of Commemoratives by Bowers is outstanding. I suggest you get that one, too, if you are interested in the series. The Whitman Redbook on commemoratives is good, too, but the old Bowers book is more thorough.

Get both. There is much in Slabaugh that is not in Swiatek.
