How do you conserve rusty iron coins?

I have many pieces of rusty iron notgeld and I was wondering what I can do to make them look a little better. -Dan

I've made a few look a little better by soaking them in Coca-Cola for a day or two. Give it a try, but not on anything valuable.

    Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Well actually, I could, but I chose not to.

Do they still make navel jelly? This will remove all ,or most, oxide and expose bare iron though. I don't know if you what that.

I have used Naval Jelly in the past. They still do make it, yes. Probably can be found in hardware stores.

Coca-Cola has phosphoric acid in it ( and we drink it). This is the same chemical as in Nicalene that I have used on crusty nickels. Cemetarys sell it so you can clean the oxidation off of your loved ones Bronze head pieces. Seems it would work on the iron pieces as well.
