Found this in Change...anything interesting?

I found the 1995-D Quarter on the right in change yesterday, and it stood out to me immedietely. The luster of a typical quarter(example to the left) is non-existent and there appears to be streaking across the front.
The strike appears very solid, and my assumption is that it is not simply wear that caused this. What are your thoughts?

  • Looks like someone washed it hot water with bleach. Maybe it was left in an old pair of pants that went through the laundry.image

Looks fairly normal except that it's a little PL which is
fairly unusual for circulation issues but hardly rare or
scarce. It has slightly less wear than typical and the
wear is slightly "harder" than typical.

It's probably a burnished planchet that's been through
the counter more than it's slid around in a pocket.

Quite normal really. If you had gotten to it before the
wear it might be very special.

The streaks that you see are probably from the rollers when the planchet strips were being produced. Personally, I like seeing these marks in the fields of coins although it's not common.
