Has anybody ever

bid and won anything from somebody living over seas? I am looking to bid and hopefully win an autographed patch card. The only thing is the seller is from Hong Kong. I have never won anything from someone over seas. He/she accepts paypal. But I am wondering if you get the same buyers protection that I would get from winning something from someone in the US? Any insight is greatly appreicated.

I've made several card purchases from Asian countries, all were painless and most arrived before an average card from the other side of the state.

    Yup. Same here.

    You shouldn't have any problems
  • It's fine on your end. You are still covered, but the seller has to show proof of delivery and that's a mess with international shipping. I think you could make a pretty good business by buying from overseas sellers, claiming you didn't get the item and then reselling it. That's a great profit margin.

I've made several card purchases from sellers in Taiwan and have had no problems. The cards usually arrived in six to ten days.

i buy and sell overseas all the time, look at my storemaps on mine , its pretty cool,it keeps track of countries
  • I would feel fine buying an autographed card, should there not be any of the red flags I look for with US sellers. There are some things you need to careful purchasing overseas on eBay. Such as meteorites from China or CDs from Taiwan. Google can help you determine the history of the country and the item in general on most things.

I've seen a lot of bogus autos from singapore that were either scoreboard or proline, but any of the certified autos from the bigger card manufacturers should be ok. Just use paypal in case there are any postal problems.

Just check his feedback like you would any other seller and see if any red flags come up. I have bought several higher dollar items ($100-$200) from over seas and actually got a better price from them since a lot of people are leery of foreign sellers. But I have never had a problem with getting any of it.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Am I the only one that caught that? That is one of the biggest problems on eBay now and the only reason I have ever received negs as a seller. Is your name Gary by any chance?

I've only bought once from an overseas seller, but they had good feedback and it made it here pretty quickly. Good luck.
