Very nice. Surprised this has not been authenticated though given some of the big names. The ball went for considerably lower than equivalent items looking at completed eBay auctions.
Personally, I would get it authenticated right away and hold the seller accountable on their money back guarantee if it did not pass for any reason. If it is the real deal, you got one heck of a bargain.
Please do yourself a big favor and get a psa/dna quick opinion before you send any money to the seller. I don't know if psa does it after auctions close but you should try asap. You should have done it before you bid at all. You'll thank me later. Personally , i would not have bid on it at any price. Just my opinion. P.

Just FYI: PSA will do the quick opinion even after the auction is over. Have had to do it a couple times myself.
I already paid via paypal... I feel good about it.. I am going to let it ride.. I would feel sketchy about it.. if his feedback was not so good.. I like a gamble.. I think all things being said this is a good bet
<< <i>that is exactly what I plan to do.. the guy has 6k + feedback at 100% and all the sigs look like the real deal I feel pretty dang lucky >>
Sometimes it's nice to find a ball or card that hasn't already been authenticated.
By not being authenticated, the selling price kept from soaring into the unknown.
There are many great buys out there and looks like you made one of them!
I took a chance on a raw 1965 Challenge the Yankees Mantle card; I won it for $35; subbed it to PSA, and it came back a 7. POP of 2 with none higher! Not bad for a $1000-$1500 registry card.
The seller, bobbyf, is a 10 year eBay veteran and has never received a negative feedback and has only recently received a few neutrals from a neurotic buyer who has a history of sending lots of negs/neutrals.
So, I feel pretty confident that the sigs are real, plus they look authentic compared to the sigs I have.
I hate to be a dissenting voice, but I would definitely get this looked at by either JSA or PSA/DNA...500 HR balls are heavily forged and there is something about the M's on the Mantle that just don't look right to me (Frank Robinson is sketchy as well)....I also found it find kind of curious how the seller didn't provide close up scans....I hope I'm wrong, but I'd get it authenticated..
Successful dealings with Wcsportscards94558, EagleEyeKid, SamsGirl214, Volver, DwayneDrain, Oaksey25, Griffins, Cardfan07, Etc.
I'd rather let psa/dna be the judge of that since there "opinion" carries more weight then anyone. (Even if they are not 100% correct). I'm not trying to be rude, but I feel no way that ball passes. Let's get some other members here to see if the ball passes in their eyes. Let's hear it gang. What do you think. ? P.
<< <i>Glad to see psa/dna provides a quick opinion after auctions close. I don't think the buyer is going to like their response though. P. >>

SUNTZ,
I say the ball passes PSA/DNA.
Just curious, what makes you think the ball wouldn't pass?
Pessimistic? .... or just a Guess? .... Sig Authenticity Experience?
PoppaJ >>
I guess a little of everything your saying except guess. I've been collecting autographs for 25years and I personally feel confident that jsa , psa or Richard Simon would NOT pass that ball. I think Richard Simon is a member of this board I would love to here his opinion. Also, like a previous member posted, the M's in Mickey Mantle are off and " A "the Williams is open ended. These are not signs of authentic sigs. I'm not saying I can't be wrong but I have personally be in front of all the 500 members on that ball on multiple occasions and I've even attended the Original 500hr show in AC . I can only speak for myself and say that I would not have bought the ball. The 500hr ball is forged by the thousands. If you read Operation Bullpen you'll see that the FBI busted the guys that cranked these out by the caseload. Respectfully, P.
That ball's signatures are forgeries. That looks to be one of the old Marino balls. Bogus junk. I hope you can get your money back. I am not trying to be mean, or rain on your parade, so to speak. I'm just being honest with you. If PSA or JSA reviews it, you will find out what I'm saying.
hate to give my opinion, but I agree that the sigs look bad. I have 5 or 6 Mantle Autos, which does not make me an expert, but the loops in the "M"s look bad. I do have 35 Ted Williams autos on everything from balls to oversized pics, and the "T" looks bad, as does the "s" at the end of the sig. The rest of his sig looks decent, but all in all, I also think that the sigs are bad. And does anyone think that the Mays looks legit?
<< <i>We all can speculate all we want with regards to if the ball is authentic.
Richard Simon for a fee will look at it too.
Steve >>
Oakesy might get an educated guess if he posts it over at 54. I would trust Richard Simon's opinion more than some of the more known authenticators for sure.
I like Richard, but I don't need him or anyone over at Net54 to convince me one way or the other on that ball. I guarantee you that all the sigs on that ball are forgeries, with 100% certain.
<< <i>I have to say that most if not all of those signatures are forgeries. I would recommend stopping payment before the piece is sent. >>
Well, if "most" are than I have have to believe that "all" are. I doubt if someone would take a baseball with say a legit Mays autograph, and then sign it with a fake Mantle, Williams, etc...
I have been in contact with the seller.. who already shipped it but said to send it back and he will refund right away.. he is very nice.. he said he bought it from a guy who supposedly was one of the people sitting with each signer.. he said they were paid with a signed ball by all the members.. anyway.. I am disappointed.. I don't collect autograph's but I was excited to own this..

Bob,
I feel your disappointment. I really believed that the ball was legit and though you have gracefully accepted PSA's QO decision, I'm still not totally convinced. I think it's my stubborn Italian blood.
I respect the opinions and help that all of the other board members gave you.
It's nice that the seller is being cooperative. That's certainly a plus!
I hope you get another chance in the near future to land something special.
Please accept my sincere apology for giving you an unintended false hope.
So does this mean all the autos are not genuine? It would be nice to know if any or deemed legit. Sorry you thought you had a great deal but at least the seller is making it right.
Poppa you can mail me the 52 mantle I'll pm you my addy.............
Stevek I'm surprised that you of all people did not think the seller of that ball was a weasel or at the very least thought it was legit without a COA, you are slipping, the Phillies winning all these WS games has made you soft.

Snorto~
that is one sweet looking ball!
the sigs are crisp and most look like 9s and 10s.
I have one that has Mantle and Williams sharing the sweet spot, also.
I hope you're going to sub it to PSA/DNA .... what a gem!
Congrats!
PoppaJ
and all the sigs look like the real deal
I feel pretty dang lucky

The Mantle and Williams sigs are dead on, in my opinion.
I have numerous sigs of both and though I'm not an expert, I'd wager my best 52 Mantle that the ball and
every sig is authentic.
Though there are many fakes out there, please don't discount the fact that there aren't any authentic
items either. There are plenty.
Pessimism has kept many a buyer from making a sweet deal.
Yeah, sometimes you take a chance, and sometimes you get burnt, but not always, and I hope not often.
I go to Vegas regularly and believe it or not ... I don't always win!
Bob did what I would have done and I can't wait for him to post this ball when it comes back from PSA/DNA.
PoppaJ
p.s. I'm not really going to wage my best 52 Mantle .... but maybe my worst!
