1961 topps dice game...saw a Mantle in philly with a pinhole in the top-Mr.Mint had the card
1967 topps punch out...I am also convinced it doesnt exist...sflayank from this site is putting together the set and he doesnt have it either

can anyone find me a scan?
Thanks Scott

Another board member owns the '61 Mantle. I've pm'd him to see if he's willing to post it.
It's not the one with the pinhole.

    1961 Dice Game (18)

    R-414-20-UNC

Perhaps taking a cue from the success of the APBA baseball game, Topps produced this black and white set in 1961. While the Topps name does not appear anywhere on the product, the quality of the cards and the typefaces used clearly mark these as a Topps product. At 2 1/2" x 3 1/2", they also have the same dimensions as regular issue 1961 cards. One player per position from each league is included and while not all are superstars, every player was an All Star at one time or another. These cards are extremely rare and the Mantle card is probably the holy grail of all Topps cards.. Of course, considering that it sells in the mid to high four figures, not too many people could afford one anyway. That is, provided more than one exists: in 1985 only one known set had been reported, along with a handful of singles. It is doubtful this set was ever legitimately released based on the low number of extant copies. In fact, when Topps issues are this scarce I have to think that Woody Gelman was involved in their introduction to the hobby.

    1967 Punchboard (Unknown)

    R-414-UNC

I love a good hobby mystery and this set, along with its related, but dissimilar test issue ancestor, certainly gave me fits. Once I figured out the test issue was from 1966, I had to determine why Sandy Koufax was in this set, when he retired in 1966. Different publications and advertisements showed the year of issue as 1967, 1968 or 1969, which was no help. Rack style packs have been known in the hobby for some time as being issued in '67, but wax packs (featuring Mickey Mantle, by the way) were thought to have been issued in 1968 or 69. Since these cards are unaccountably scarce, I had to work off an ad which fortunately listed players by team. Then the 1995 Standard Catalog was published and my job was made easier. A check of the Baseball Encyclopedia revealed all players shown in the ad were with their listed teams at the end of 1966. A few of these retired following season's end, including Koufax. So 1967 it was. Or was it? Sandy retired on November 18, 1966 and I believe the set was already in pre-production at that time. He was a big name player who had just walked away from the game in his prime. He was known to kids throughout the country; in fact, when I first started seriously collecting as a kid in 1970, a 1966 Sandy Koufax card I had brought a Hank Aaron in trade, a card which I had been trying to obtain for weeks and for which I had previously offered up everything short of my entire collection. So I think Topps just decided to go with the name recognition factor to sell some cards in 1967. Plus, since other players in the set are listed in the "lineup" section of the Punchboard, just below the small photo of the team captain on each one, it may have been more trouble than it was worth to make so many changes. But what of the 1968 wax packs? Well, since this issue is so hard to find for a set that was seemingly released as a legitimate item I think Topps sold leftovers from 1967 in 1968, which could mean poor sales have made this set the toughie it is today. These cards can easily be differentiated from the 1966 test issue as they have only one black and white photo on the upper left corner and square punch out pieces. The size of the set is probably complete at 90 cards, although card backs indicate almost 200 exist, but some, if not all players appear in more than one lineup, so it's possible 180 different versions exist, assuming two different lineups per player.

    Hi Scott,

The current PSA Brooks Robinson Master Registry Set doesn't include either card, which might mean that
neither card exists. I'm not saying they don't exist, it's just odd that neither card is listed in
the Master Set. (The Mantle Master Set includes both cards of Mantle ... I know, I have them both).

I have every card listed on that list...I just dont pay to get my cards graded....who comes up with the list? why is the 1976 team card on there, but none of the other years are listed?..why is a 1969 globe on the list but not a 1973 topps comic and pin up?What about the 72 venezulan sticker...they list the rest of the Venz. cards
I really dont buy into this whole psa grading thing...especial this "master registry".the list is missing some key cards.
I know the dice game is around, but I am really doubtful that the 67 punchout exist.
    Thanks for the list

If someone requests it on the master set list, they add it. If they don't, they don't. It usually comes down to the person that has a scarce or obscure card gets it added.
It's BS, IMO, and has really ruined the player and type set registry. There is no consistency, and including team cards and checklists in player sets makes no sense.

    Hi Scott,

A PSA Registry Set list grows as a result of someone filling out a request form for a particular card that has been PSA graded, but not yet on the list, to be added to a set.

So, if you found a raw 67 punchout and submitted it to PSA for grading and it did indeed receive a grade, you would then fill out
a request form, found in the registry, to have that card added to the set. Additions can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 12 weeks depending on the backload.

The Mickey Mantle Master Registry Set had a composition of 155 cards last year at this time.

Today, there are an even 200 cards in the set.

Not all cards, even though they are PSA graded, make it to the set.

    Here's PSA's explanation:

    Master Player Sets:
All cards, with the exception of unique or very limited edition cards, are accepted in the Master player sets. If a player is featured on a team set card, it will be allowed. Cards which may feature a player in the background but make no mention of the player on the card are not allowed.

Player sets can take six months or longer before they go online. Your patience is appreciated.

Player sets have evolved since they were first introduced in the PSA Set Registry. Therefore, there may be some inconsistencies. Please email setregistry@collectors.com with any changes you feel should be made.

Player Card Requests to Established Sets:
Player set compositions, especially for modern basic sets and all master sets, are constantly expanding as new cards are graded by PSA. If you have a card that does not yet appear in a player set, you may request that it be added to the set. Cards which are considered print errors and are not established variations, will be added as either/or to the base card. Beginning January 1, 2007, pins will also be included in the player sets.

Cards with populations of less than 3 which are added 90 days prior to the PSA Set Registry Awards deadline at the end of May, may be added as optional if the card is not considered mainstream. After the awards deadline, the status will be changed to required.

To request an addition to a player set, please login to My Set Registry and view the set in My Sets. There you will find a link called "Report a cert that should match this composite." From this link you can make your request.

    Hope this helps image
