Are the Philadelphia Phillies the greatest baseball team of all time?

stevekstevek Posts: 27,704 ✭✭✭✭✭
No, not in the 19th or 20th century...in the 20th century clearly the New York Yankees were the greatest...but I say the Phillies have got a good chance of achieving that honor for the 21st century.

seeing that the 21 st century is less then 10 years old I think just about every team has a chance at that distinction.

Your title claims "of all time", so NO, being honest with you I'd have to say that honor belongs to the Yanks.

    Good for you.

    Lets see,

    2007 Boston 4, Colorado 0
    2006 St. Louis 4, Detroit 1
    2005 Chi. White Sox 4, Houston 0
    2004 Boston 4, St. Louis 0
    2003 Florida 4, NY Yankees 2
    2002 Anaheim 4, San Francisco 3
    2001 Arizona 4, NY Yankees 3
    2000 NY Yankees 4, NY Mets 1

Lets see, the Phillies hadn't even sniffed the Series til this year. So I would have to see it goes to the Sox for 2 wins and the Yanks right behind them as both teams have the most wins alltogether and World Series appearances.

I'm not disagreeing with those facts, I just stated the Phillies "have got a good chance" with a young nucleus of excellent ballplayers for the future - the future looks very bright for the Phillies.

win or lose this series, the future looks infinitely brighter for the Rays than it does the Phillies....the only disadvantage the Rays have is being in the same division as two perennial powerhouses.
