This is really a no brainer on Ebay's part. They need to deal with the bully.

There is a book out there called "The death of right and wrong ". Our present culture has been on a steady slide for a long time . Ebay is just reflecting the ills of society by not taking a quick and firm stand. This is not life or death , but a small problem that could easily be resolved, if the will were there.

Money out trumps , once again , right or wrong

The seller could very well win this one. Or, at the very least, achieve a
    satisfactory resolution.

The UK and the USA have totally different views from each other, on
    issues of "defamation."

  • " A Facebook group called "eBay Sellers Want Feedback Rights" is calling for this decision to be reversed, and eBay has admitted it needs to review its dispute-handling procedures.

A new system will be launched later this month to allow sellers legitimately to ask buyers to revoke negative feedback if a dispute has been resolved. "

This feeback thing is like a pendulum. It started when ebay was a haven for scam sellers who would hold FB hostage so that the buyer wouldnt leave a neg. Now its swung the other way where the sellers are the one getting bent over. There is no perfect way, but, as a former ebay seller, I would say it was the sellers who started the whole feedback controversy by not leaving feedback after they received payment and made the claim that the buyer has some obligation after paying. In my opinion that is the ONLY obligation a buyer has...to pay for the item.

This has no equitable resolution because the minute they allow sellers the right to leave a neg to a buyer, the whole retaliation feedback will start again. The only way this gets solved is if eBay gets more involved in cleaning up their site, not only in prosecuting the scam sellers, but the scam buyers as well.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

    .................

The system needs to go back to mutual feedback. OR, we could get rid
    of FB all together.

DSR's - if they keep them at all - should be "pass/fail." Most buyers are
as stupid as rocks and shoe bottoms, and are not capable of leaving
    detailed ratings.

"FREE Shipping" = 3-Stars to most buyers. "I paid nothing so this must
    be not-applicable; I'll just put a 3 here."

    On a positive note ...

I like the feedback system the way it is right now, though I admit that I had reservations at first.

Since the change, we haven't received a single neutral or negative and our DSRs are all
5.0 except for one which is currently 4.94.

Since 1998, we have always sent feedback first to our buyers and have thousands of repeat
loyal customers. Funny how you don't have to worry about receiving negative feedback when you
    do things right.

I strongly disagree that MOST buyers are stupid and incapable of leaving detailed ratings ... our DSRs prove it!

We offer Free Shipping on all of our items now and our sales/profits are out the roof!

eBay, I agree, should have taken a firm stance in the aforementioned feedback matter.

    My decision: No Libel.

When an insured item gets lost and you get a paypal chargeback, you'll feel differently when the buyer refuses to fill out the required USPS forms and you can't collect on the insurance.

Obvioulsy, you don't mean that is "always" the case.

There are THOUSANDS of scamsters masquerading as "buyers."
They don't operate much in collectibles, but in the categories
they haunt, MANY good sellers are being destroyed.

And, some folks are just crazy and will NEG sellers because they
can, and because they like the drama. Then, there are, believe it
or not, MANY that are simply too stupid to complete a simple transaction
    without messing it up.

    .........

Under amjur, there is no libel. In The UK, it could work out differently.

You're not telling me anything that I and MOST people don't already know ... concerning scamsters etc.

Of course there will always be those that neg just for spite, but don't use the word MOST or MANY when referring
to the masses ... and you can believe that.

But... MOST people are honest and for you to say that MOST buyers are stupid is absurd.

It's not a matter of believing anything or not .... It's a matter of fact that most people are NOT stupid.

As for worrying about Negative Feedback .... Just treat your buyers the way you'd like to be treated and let the feedbacks
fall as they may .... Worrying about the very minute few that send irresponsible negatives is a waste of time.
