Yeah it's funny to read in Linn's and elsewhere how a stamp collector will happen to be at a post office where someone returns a "defective sheet" (missing die-cuts etc) and get a regular sheet as a replacement having no idea the "defective " one is of great value, of course the stamp collector then picks up the defective one at face. People can be pretty dumb.
That upside-down airplane stamp (or however many of them still survive) has got to be the most recognizable stamp in existence.
Anybody remember that Simpsons episode where he's going thru a rummage sale box and comes up with a sheet of these stamps, an Action 1 comic book, a lost copy of the Declaration of Independence, etc.?

It's a defective stamp - Bring it back to the post office and they'll issue you a replacement stamp.
