the year is 3 months from being over.. will you complete your 2008 collecting goals?
i want to be at 20% of the N28 set, and 60% of the 1948 Bowman set before the end of the year.
i also want to gain more knowledge on 19th century cards.. i just bought the 2009 Standard catalogue.. that will help.
what do you have left to do this year?

To continue building on my PSA top 30 HOFer and Superstars subsets from 1956-1985. Right now I have finished off 1959, 1969-1980, 1983-1984.
Here is what I would like to get this year:
1956 5/30 I may get to around 10 or so this year. I have Berra, Ted Williams, Feller, Doby and Roberts in PSA 5. I am up to 11 currently and have exceed my goal.
1958 4/30 I would like to maybe get up to around 10 next year. I have Fox, Banks, Snider and Spahn. I am currently at 14 of 30 and have exceeded my goal.
1960 1/30 Probably won't work on this one too much next year. I added 2 more and stand at 3 of 30.
1961 29/30 I just need Hank Aaron in a PSA 6. - Got the Aaron PSA 6 and met my goal.
1962 11/30 I would like to atleast get up to around 18 or so. I already have the Mantle. Currently, stand at 19. So I have exceeded my goal. I plan to add at least 5 more before the year is out.
1963 16/30 I would like to finish in 2008. The only real big ones I need is Aaron, Killebrew and Clemente in a PSA 6. As I stated in a previous thread I will not get the Rose because I can't justify spending $400 or $500 on such an ugly card. I have completed this set with the acquisition of a PSA 7 Nellie Fox.
1964 24/30 I would like to finish in 2008. I still need Berra, Clemente, Gibson, Aaron, Niekro and Robin Roberts. I am looking for PSA 6's, I will take a 7 on all but Clemente or Aaron. I have completed this goal.
1965 4/30 I won't do much with this set this year. I added four more to bring the total up to 8 of 30.
1966 24/30 I would like to finish it, but it is lower on my list. I still need the Mays, Mantle, Jenkins, Sutton, Aaron and McCovey. I have completed this set and exceeded my goal.
1967 27/30 I would like to finish this set too, but still need the big three Seaver, Carew and Robinson. More realistically, I will try to get 2 of 3 of them. I will end up getting the Seaver in a nice PSA 5. I am at 29 of 30. I still need the Seaver and will not get it this year. I did get the 2 of 3 I planned on.
1968 29/30 Just need the Ryan. I am also looking for a nice PSA 5. I will finish it this year. I added the Ryan in a PSA and have completed my goal.
1981 28/30 Just need Stargell and Niekro in PSA 8 or 9. I will buy them as soon as I find them. Did not get these yet.
1982 26/30 Just need Fisk, Yaz, Murray and the regular issue Ripken (I have the traded). Will also buy an 8 or 9. I foundthe Fisk and Murray, but still need Yaz and Ripken. I probably will not finish this.
1985 29/30 Just need Joe Morgan in a PSA 9 only. I found the Morgan in PSA 9 and finished this set.
I will be pleased if I can finish 1961, 1963, 1964, 1967 and 1968 this year.
Overall, I have come very close to meeting my goals for 2008 and there are still 3 months left. Thanks for reminding me about the original thread.
1) get at least 50% complete on my raw Champ Bailey Rookie Card set
2) complete the Ozzie Smith Basic Set
3) Complete the 2008 Allen & Ginter set
here is my progress so far:
1) 28%... I added some very scarce cards but I kind of put this on the back burner to focus on a STL Cardinals A&G master set.
2) Need 6 more cards
3) Missing two minis due to my poor collating

Completed High Numbers, 2 cards missing from completeing Supreme Update (of cards that were graded and inserted into packs)

In 1st place with a nice lead.
"Work on 1974 & 1982 Kellogg's sets...hopefully complete one of them."
Made some progress on both sets...neither will likely be complete. Don't see as many listed on eBay as there use to be.

Failed in that department.
It was also a mission to get to 1500 different Steve Young cards, not sure where I am, but I know I passed that mark.
Overall, I guess I can say I have completed my goals.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.
goal 2: complete my 1965 Topps baseball Set...on hold; havent bought a card for it in over 2 months; and im about 50 cards short.
P.S. Can anyone loan me $100 so I can buy a case of 1986 Topps baseball on eBay and use my Microsoft Live discount?
