Lost card found at P.O. after 3 months!!

I sent a card, won on E-bay auction, by delivery confirmation on July 2nd.

Seller never received it, showed it left my hometown and never was found.
Contacted both post offices to run a trace, and it was determined lost.
No insurance purchased, so I lost the paypal dispute the buyer filed, and had to
refund $85 for the purchase of a 1954 Topps Yogi Berra PSA-6.

That was in August.
Just happened to look back at the USPS site, and found it was finally delivered after 3 months
on Sept. 24, 2008. Buyer never contacted me after receiving the card and his money.
What a scumbag.
I emailed him, but surprise, no response.
Any recourse via paypal, or am I out since dispute has closed?

That happened to me a while back. I won a card from some dude in Canada. I emailed him after about 3 weeks. He said he sent it. I waited another 2 weeks and emailed him again. I told him just to refund my money but he never replied to me. I emailed him a few more times, got ignored again, so I negged him and let it go.

The card showed up 3+ months after the auction ended. It was obviously lost at the po. The mailer was dirty, stepped on and even had a tire mark on it image

I felt bad for negging the dude but he never returned my emails so he deserved it.

You could try opening a NPB on EBAY. Way too late to do
it conventionally, but you could call EBAY and ask them to
open it manually. (If you are a PSer, call your rep.)

I would let T&S know that another one of their wonderful
    "buyers" is stealing from sellers. They might contact him;
if he gets spooked, he might pay.

Did you use a PayPal DC, or the USPS ticket DC?

For future reference, you might try a sticker under the
    return addy that reads:

"If not delivered to addressee within 30-days of postmark,
please return to sender. Return postage guaranteed."

He can try to get PP to listen to the story.

So much time has passed, so they won't
want to get involved. If the right supervisor
could be gotten to, maybe they would contact
    the buyer.

    Sometimes,

    amanda@paypal.com

will look into stuff like this and get somebody
    to take some action.

(title email: "Unfair Chargeback Violated Seller Protection Policy")

The buyer may have no money in the account,
so the SP would have to kick in. PP hates that.

    ........

The only other option would be a BBB complaint
    to the San Jose branch.

    The complaint would state:

    "PayPal wrongfully gave a third-party the complainant's
money and merchandise. The complainant has proof
that the third-party received both the complainant's money
and merchandise. PayPal refuses to honor PayPal's
'Seller Protection' policy, as they are required to do
by the User Agreement between PayPal and Complainant."

PayPal now has a group that works on BBB complaints. They
are usually settled with "courtesy refunds." The process can
    take 60-days; usually less.

    Try amanda first.

I bought a card from a board member and it never showed up. He refunded my money, without my knowledge which was a great gesture. The card showed up 5 weeks later and I immediately paypaled him the money and said it did arrive by pony express. I think the buyer should have told you he received it and sent you the money. Karma follows you where ever you go. Karma's a b@tch.

  • No ID? I think the sellers would like to know who the guy is.
