What a difference a scan makes

I recently bought 2 high grade Mantles on E-Bay, and most of you were concerned about the low feedback,
recent inactivity, and poor scans of the cards.

Yes, I agree there was some risk in these purchases. However, I received some awesome Mantles.
Here are the E-bay scans, followed by better scans that I did. Got real good deals on them, and will
consider selling them in a future Memory Lane or Mile High auctions.
Considering the risk, I probably should have sought better examples from a major auction house, and
considered paying full list prices for a safer transaction, but it always feels good to get a deal.

    Super impressive cards, nate.

So you bought them to flip? What do expect to make on the back end?

    I have a Canon Canoscan 3000.

Scan with the cover open, so there is a black background. Turn off all lights over your scanner for better contrast.

Use 300 DPI setting for color photos, then modify the image using Adobe Photodeluxe.
You can crop the image, then blow it up to a 6 X 8 inch image.

Compress it, and save as a JPEG image, and there you have it.
An image that will earn you more money on E-Bay!

I use www.fileave to store my images. It's free, and will host many images for E-Bay auctions.

The last 2 PSA-9 Mantles have gone for $9500-10,500. I am hoping to hang on until the Spring and flip for 1-2 thousand profit.

Glad you made out great. Remember though, a winning bet isn't necessarily a good bet. I still say if you do things like that on a consistent basis, you're gonna get burnt more times than you win, and you're better off looking for good deals with reputable sellers on cards such as that, especially in this economy whereby it's a buyer's market.

Too late L. He gave them all away in the contest thread you obviously missed as well.
