Quick price quote?

Ventured into my local B&M and seen a proof 1953 G.B. Farthing that caught my eye. I'm not one to venture into the "darkside" of coin collecting, but I may start with this one. Can anyone give me a few prices for the various grades on this particular coin? Thanks!

  • Krause has them at xf-.50-unc--3.00,proof-8.00,matte proof-800,only two known.

I think there is a rarer proof that has the plus sign over liz's head pointing between the dentricles. I have one of these but haven't found a price for it yet. Nice series to own. Olmanjon

Thanks olmanjon, appreciate the info. I also recall this one is the more common type, as the "F" in farthing is not between the denticles. image

The coin is extremely common in unc but is a one year type coin. More
importantly is that most examples are quite unattractive due to blotch-
es and other corrosion issues. Nice gem examples aren't priced by Krause
but are quite elusive. Even choice examples may be undervalued.

The rarer 2+A would go for that on its own.

IMO, the pricing on the 2+A farthing, like with the 1951 penny, is a bit over the top. It is not as rare as hyped by the pricing guides. About 1 in 6 (roughly) are the scarcer variety. I have found several of these in my travels in the US.
