Thats 2.75X PCGS guide
I understand your question and let me give some insight into the PCGS price guide.
The guide is for "average coins" for the grade and doesn't consider prices for "PQ" or "toned coins".
I recently sold a 1909 PCGS PR66BN MPL cent (nicely toned) for $6,500 Pop 2/O Price guide $2,000 thats 3.25 X PCGS guide.
I recently sold a 1914 PCGS PR66RB for $15K. guide is $3,000 5X PCGS guide. I can give numerous examples but the above is just a sample and yes buy prices are many times in excess of PCGS retail price guide. It's an imperfect world out there.
One more tidbit to digest: Checkout Heritage achives: On September 21st of this year a "toned" 1909 MPL cent in an ICG PR64BN holder sold for $2,070!! based on this information I would think my price is fair?

I am delighted you had the time to take the commission for me. At a pop 9-2, someone just got a seriously nice and conditionally rare coin. And at a price break as well. Good luck with the 1911 too. That coin is also a tough one to find looking like that. Red-Browns in "Brown" holders are just not very common. Matte Proof Lincoln Cent experts recognize a break when they see one
To the buyer: Thank you and congratulations! You cannot go wrong, and I would advise picking up the '11 too if you can - it is a late die state with a colorful smooth obverse and a completely red reverse with a die crack through the "O" in ONE. Very hard to come across. And Brian priced it as a steal.
