1944P silver Jefferson Nickel??? HELP

This is what I got today at work
You tell me what you think and any advise as to what to do with it and its value
The center nickel is boardered by 3 steel and 1 reg nickel
the center and 1 other steel nickel are of the same year and mint
This looks like a silver nickel to me

The nickel from 1942-1945 was made with 35% silver, so yes, you do indeed have a silver nickel worth about 55 cents in silver. Cool find!

It is a silver nickel. All nickels made from 1942-45 with the large mint mark above Monticello on the reverse are 35% silver.

why does it look so different and I thought the wartime were steel?

Wartime 1943 cents were steel. The wartime nickels were 35% silver.

I think that it looks different because it is a higher grade coin.

It was some time ago I think it was last year but did pull them off the bay I think you are thinking of this one.
