Willingham is certainly stinkin it up wherever he coaches. Washington State was co-champs with USC in the Pac 10 back in 2002 I believe. Under his leadership the team has become one of the worst teams I have seen in my lifetime.
<< <i>College basketball should be pretty solid up there for Washington and Washington State this year, right? >>
Hopefully. And Gonzaga, at least, is good most years.
Hmmm, you're missing one key issue: The best pitcher in all of MLB is from Bellevue, WA. He was twice the PAC 10 Player of the Year as a Washington Huskie. And in a few short weeks he'll be announced as the 2008 NL Cy Young Award winner.
His name is Tim Lincecum -- pitches for the SF Giants -- was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated in July -- made the All-Star Team -- led the NL in K's -- was 2nd in Wins -- and was 2nd in ERA.
If you've never seen him pitch, you owe it to yourself to check him out next spring. He's awesome.

Wow. This is quite a stretch. Frankly, I couldn't care less if Tim Lincecum is from Washington. That fact doesn't change the way I feel about how almost all the teams in the state are losing. But since we're on the topic of great pitchers from Washington, you should really check out a guy that many people think is the best pitcher in the AL these days . . . he's from Tacoma, Wa, has battled cancer, thrown a no-hitter, pitched (and won) the clinching game of a World Series, and was 4th in the AL in ERA while playing in the very competitive AL East. His name is Jon Lester and you should check him out next spring. He's pretty awesome too.
