Whole lotta rattlin'

Here's my Mercury Rattler set with the first round of pictures. Some turned out ok others obviously need lots of work but it's a start.

Nice set, quite a task limiting yourself to old rattlers!

Cool! Man where in the *L* do you find all those things?

eBay mostly but I've also found them here on the forums, Teletrade, Heritage and David Lawrence.

I guess you search them out & I don't. I don't often see them at shows & shops anymore. Prolly all getting cracked for the elusive upgrade.

That is what I was thinking. I would imagine that the conditional rarities of the set might be a little harder to find just because of that.

I think very hard to find for that very reason. If the price jump is a few cents more than the grading fee, crack crack!

  • Cool idea, I am trying for a USA Type Set in rattlers. Going to be a long process to get them all.

Man, I bet that It'll be tough to find some of the modern clads in rattlers.

    Regards, John
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

Is' the "20th Century Type Set, Major Types - No Gold (1900-1999)" so the only ones impossible to fill will be the State Quarters.

Cool set - how long did it take you to build that rattler set?

I've been working on this set for two years now. I had picked up a few lower graded Mercs on eBay but the bug really kicked in with a purchase of a dozen in MS66FB (common dates) that Todd Abbey (Cameo CC) had listed. Not only have I found them to fill the holes I have also upgraded quite a few as I've gone along. I currently have about 30 duplicates that I plan on unloading at some point.
