Whats wrong with this 55?? Pic of back added.

Hi everyone,

Bought this card tonight for less than book for a 5. The 55 high numbers are hard to come by especially centered. Would a wrinkle be the only thing that would bring this grade?

Or potentially a small tear or surface crease/wrinkle between the E and S in YANKEES.

I would think so because otherwise it looks like a 7.

    Nice card!

  • This is a nice looking Berra. Yes indeed centering is tough on the 55's and this Berra has excellent centering. Its interesting that just over an hour before your auction there was another Berra for sale in same PSA 5 grading. It was had for a great price $71.00 but centering and corners were not good at all. I think you did just fine on your purchase.

Nice looking card, without it in hand it is tuff to figure exactly what the problem
(if any) is. It could have 4 touched corners which makes it a technical 5 too.

It may very well not have any wrinkles or tears just 4 touched corners.

I have a 55 Killebrew rookie graded 5 with the 4 touched corners.

    Good for you.

    Thanks everyone...

Relaxed...here is the other PSA 5 that closed today also. Not sure how the same grade can produce two cards that look so much different.

The second one appears more VG/EX then EX to me.
