It's certified as a MS-68 but it is the most rotten thing I have ever seen to sell for $900. Am I missing something? Not a bash on Modern clads but a serious question.

Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

It scans similar to my 68, which looks real good in person.
Heavy flow lines radiating from the center of the coin, slight toning on the reverse. Looks like on very minor ticks, and a couple of those look like they are probably on the holder. My only concern with it would be the dark spots on the wings of the eagle and above the arrows.

It's not a bad looking coin, as modern Kennedy's go, but the Mint really ruined the design by shrinking the obverse, and re-working the detail in JFK's hair. Also, the reverse is in such low relief that the eagle looks like it got run over by a steamroller. All that just to make the coin easier to strike. If the Mint used greater pressure and it took twice as long to strike them, an entire year's production could probably be made in a couple of days. I wish they'd restore the original design.

I think the D & O are on the holder. Definitely some chatter on the neck, with at least one honest tick there above the initials. Stuff in the hair appears to be on the holder as well. Hard to say on the mark on the tail feathers, but they don't seem sharply struck to boot. Would have to see it in person to really say one way or another 67 or 68.
Jim,
I don't think that 1997 or 1998 were real great years for Mint Set quality. I seem to remember that those are bad years for Washington quarters as well. 1996 was a good year, with over 10 pieces for each mintmark in 68.

Both of the MS-68's that I have from the Kennedy series have very pronounced flow lines radiating out from the center of the coin. Much more pronounced than any other denomination that I have seen in high grade so far.
