?? Aboot Cloudy Slabs

Anyone know why there are so many slabs with this cloudy look to them? Is it an attempt to polish them that went wrong? Do some polish jobs go bad at a later time or deteriorate?

Many collectors and dealers mishandle slabs and they get scuffed up fairly easily since the plastic is fairly soft. If you do a search, there are many threads here discussing the best way to polish the slabs to remove scratches and scuffing.

I see so many that are cloudy just like the pic I posted and most on the same side in the same area. Anyone ever get one direct from PCGS like that?

I made the mistake once of using acetone to remove some stickers - it will mar (cloud) PCGS slabs in a heartbeat. It also began to remove the hologram and the hot stamped logo.

But I haven't seen very many cloudy ones out there in the marketplace.

I wonder if booze alcohol or rubbing alcohol might work. Maybe have to try that. I have a number of cloudy slabs all like that. I'd just as soon not send them in for reholder tho.

I don't think that alcohol will work as you need a polish in this situation, but let us know

You can also use Brasso , another polish recommended for slab polishing

I use rubber cement thinner to remove stickers. I learned this years ago when I used rubber cement
thinner to remove stickers from CD cases and other plastic items. It is a mild solvent that will not mar
or melt plastic. I buy it at nice office supply stores, art supply stores, and hobby stores like Michaels.

    Thanks,

Here is my before an after using plastx. It really helps the clouding issues.
