Do you like to watch?

I started a few 30-day fixed-price listings on eBay, and I noticed that many of them have watchers. I wondered why, since anyone who wants to buy one of them can just pay the fixed price. Think the watchers are just curious about the selling prices? Or maybe they're marking them for their end-of-the-month payday? Or maybe they're confused about fixed-price listings and intend to snipe them? What are your auction watching habits?

sometimes i'll put a fixed price listing under my watched items if I"m thinking about buying it (very rarely do if thats the case)

  • I may watch it just to see if it sells compared to an item I may have in inventory.

I MAY watch as well to see if it sells, or see if it just sits, but if it is something i want i usually will just buy it

  • Depends, I may put it on watch to keep the item in mind, but never actually purchase it. A good example for me, would be a 49ers Gameday Program with Steve Young on the cover. Say you listed one for $10, I may watch it, but might have a problem buying it, because if you put it in a 7 day auction starting at $0.99, there is no way it would go over $3. Or maybe I have one myself and just want to see if someone would pay that. Maybe just to put a tag on the seller. There are million reasons as there is with everything....something people tend to forget.

  • I watch alot.

Curious on prices just to know
to see if sellers fix their wrong info. once told
    stop scam once called upon
save to research/share/laugh at seller, card at a later date
    bid later if cheap
know what mine will sell for
getting a price range for a future purchase
If no best offer, wait until it goes unsold and make one once the auction is over and the seller might be more willing to accept.

I usually remove most watches before they end as I have what I need by then or want to keep my views limited and probally also so I'm not one to make the seller think a bid will come from my view as I have had alot of watchers and no bids on a few items. I used to kinda care. I dont anymore. Didn't put me in therapy but anyways.

Mike I am a watcher myself, Im looking at those '52 Bowmans you got up there just seeing what is going to sell or not keeping tabs on some of my rival '52 collectors and comparing prices.
  • If the same 2 cards are up...one in an auction and 1 on a buy it now..
I will bid for the card in the auction upto the buy it now price of the other card.

I have seen more often than not people pay way more for the same card then the one that is up on the buy it now. I realize that if the card in the auction is centered better, maybe a stronger vibriant color or some other characteristic that makes it more appealing then that will explain the difference in price.
But without any glaring difference The above holds true.
The Link below will take you to the PSA Boards 1952 Set Build, I also have made 5 slideshows each slideshow is 100 cards long, card numbers 1-99,100-199,200-299,300-399, and 400-407
