but not a drop at spot. No surprise there. I went to St Charles coin show yesterday looking for two things. Silver and a 37 seated
dime. I foud both but...silver anything was selling at $17 a oz. Bars, rounds, squares, whatever. ASEs at $20. Pandas at $22. Go figure.
The 37 seated dimes I found were either $60 or $600. One I didnt want the other out of my price range. The day was not a total bust I did
buy a nice 83 Liberty nickel witn cents and a 1913S Barber dime. Bob

You can get a mini-contract on the COMEX, (1000 ounces), and get pure silver at direct spot.
There are millions of ounces of silver out there, just very little of it in small denominations.
try and get it delivered. no chance. dont believe what you see and hear, dont even believe that you can get it delivered.
One 20 ounce bar at $17 (US) per ounce
One 100 ounce bar at $16 (US) per ounce.
One dealer who usually has many, many silver bars, only had one or two this time.
but give the fabricators about 12 weeks to fabricate the smaller pieces... which is why the big marketers all have 12 week waits while taking orders with today's super high premiums.
in 12 weeks, the super high premiums will vanish once the fabricated supplies catch up with demand.
note: I dont know what the spot price of silver will be in 12 weeks, but I do suspect that the "shortage premium" will be a fraction of what it is today in 12 weeks.

<< <i>there is plenty of silver in the world, but not in one ounce wafers or rounds, or in five ounces, or 20 ounces, or in 100 ounce bars... and that is why no one has any for sale or fast delivery.

Yes there's 1000 oz bars everywhere Try ordering one and see how long it takes......
<< <i>when you're buying a 1000 ounce bar I can believe 59 cents over spot. I mean that is still $590 over spot plus probably another $100-$150 for shipping, handling, insurance, etc. . I think I would rather have 1000 ASE's at $4 or $5 over spot because you have to consider that their resell value is higher too. >>
Don't believe it, it isn't true.
Seems to be an urban legend around here.
It's not so much the shipping as it is the insurance, but then you can't get one anyway.
*Edit* BobK - Still looking for a 100 ounce bar? PM me.

<< <i>has anyone ever bought the silver grain bags from Apmex? >>
Actually did Friday night. For .69 over spot didn't seem to be a risk. I can always sell it to a jeweler I know.
