  • This is the one you might be referring to (although it was more like 2.7k). I bought it as an ANACS MS62RB and crossed it as a PCGS AU58RB. Was only the 3rd one ever graded at PCGS at the time.

if you didn't buy it off the bay as an au58 then i'm talking another coin

it was the author of the article in pcgs's last magazine...

i still wonder why price guide doesn't list them no mores...i've heard it has to do with at least 5 graded but the 58 ddo is in there
as well as the 64 sms seems to pop in and out of price guide

No. I sold it on eBay as an AU58. Someone else bought it. About 2 years ago as I remember.

Not me. Sorry I missed that.

I did pick up a PCGS AU58 off of the Bay in January, unattributed. Paid a lot more for that one!

yeah this example had it's spots though

you're one of very few my friend to claim ownership.what a club of 5 or 7 total?

do you ever wonder if they will keep it in price guide as it is a coin that pops in and out lately?

PCGS shows only one red designation, an MS64Rd! image

This is a new one, isn't it??

Manorcourtman bought that one off eBay from Brud Rich for $1,500. The seller sold him another for the same price )I believe). He subsequently got one graded by NGC as 65RD and one by PCGS as 64RD (if I'm not mistaken).

    No kidding!

The MS65Rd at NGC would cross at PCGS at MS64Rd, so that (potentially) makes two of 'em.

Cladking pointed out that the die run of these is "hiding in plain sight," in jars and shoeboxes. I'm impressed, though that some have search assiduously for this variety, and so few have turned up at any grade.

Here, you guys may appreciate this. A couple of weeks ago I rediscovered a box with several plastic jars full of cents. It had been put away since my last year of college (1992-93), back when I still used to diligently search bank rolls. The plastic bottles were from a co-op position I had a year earlier at a consumer goods company, I'd salvaged them to store coins. Most of the jars had circulated cents I'd never returned to the bank, but a couple also had some early 1980s gems I'd sorted out from the pile. Then I came to these two jars:

Those are all gem 1992-D cents, saved in the year of issue and remarkably well preserved considering the storage medium for the last 16 years. The jar I emptied was only about half full, the other jar is stuffed to the brim. I figure there must be 20-25 rolls worth of cents between the two. I also found a similar jar 2/3 full of gem 1991-D cents.

So now I need to get some cotton gloves and start checking the reverses of those bad boys. image Believe me, if I find anything good I'll let this Forum know.

I really wish I was aware of this variety! All this time I've just been scanning for 72, 83, 84, and 95 dates. Fail.
