I thought PM's and the market historically ran counter cyclical. What's up?

One can always find short term counter-cyclical links between 2 items that historically either run together or inversely. US pog doesn't always run inverse to the dollar. But there are times when they can move in the same direction for days at a time, especially since the advent of the PPT, hedge funds, etc. No difference with stocks, bonds, coins, beanie babies, etc. What you won't find is those items moving against their normal patterns for months or years (ie gold falling since 2001 as the dollar fell).
