Prayers needed.............

My brother had a house fire 4:15 AM Tuesday. Luckily no one was hurt. The fire (electrical) started in my moms apartment of the duplex my brother owns. She was sleeping through the smoke alarm but was awakened by her 16 year old dog barking and scratching at her. My mom is in bad health but she was able to make her way upstairs and pound on my brothers door. He was able to get his wife and two kids, my mom, her dog and one of his three cats out. Later we were able to get back in and we found both other cats alive and unharmed. My brothers apartment is a complete loss, not from burning but from smoke and water damage. Most of my mothers place is the same way. My brother is living with me temporarily, his wife and two kids with her sister an hour away, and my mom was living with me until she was admitted to the hospital. She is in poor health (heart problems, knee and hip replacements, back surgeries, and several other issues.) She was admitted because she lost all her medicine and was in severe pain. Even though insurance will take care of things, I ask for prayers that they and myself get through this ordeal. Especially the kids. My nephew called 911 the night after the fire to ask them if his Uncle's house was going to catch fire. Thanks for letting me go on and thanks for your prayers.

I survived an apartment fire 4 yrs ago. At 1:30AM I was awaken by people banging on my door. I jumped out of bed, and as soon as I ran into the living room, my smoke alarm went off. My entire balcony was on fire and it was coming through the roof/ceiling into my apt.
I ran out with nothing but the pair of shorts I was sleeping in. I ran downstairs and watched as the whole top floor of the building was basically destroyed before the firemen showed up.
My 1986 Fleer PSA 9 set was in two vault boxes in the very back of my closet. The next day, I asked one of the firemen to go back and look for it. He brought me the boxes. They were soaked through, and covered in ash, but the cards inside were fine! I did lose alot of cards though, including about 1200 random 86 Fleer singles.
But living through something like that, as your family did, is something for which to be very thankful and appreciative.
Having gone through an apartment fire myself about 4 years ago (fellow tenant fell to sleep smoking), I can empathize with the disruption these events cause in one's life. The most important thing is everyone is alive. Material goods are always replaceable.
