the trick is where do you buy close to spot and when do you take delivery.
if you can find silver one dollar more then the current spot keep it a guarded
    secret ;-)

oh. there is a PM forum now here at PCGS. Please post there, FYI.
  • if the downturn is sustained for very long, even just a few days. i could see some of the premium between physical and spot price diminish.

    Industrial metal, just like platinum.
    All glory is fleeting.

It has been in the 11-12 dollar range for quite a while, definitely more than days, still selling for 16-20 bucks an ounce in the real world.

true, but your statement was about the past and mine about the future.
i think the psychological effect of it staying in the 8-10 range for very long, trending down, may be enough to shake the physical buyers, and they are driving the premium.

never said i expected someone to be able to buy an oz. for spot if it sinks to 8, but i could see that disparity between physical and spot narrowing in the coming days if it does get down that far.

  • deflation is going to be worse then anyone ever imagined.. I'd wait for it to hit 6 bucks.. and when rhodium is under 1000, pick up some of that, too... oh, and platinum under 500...

It's all worth nothing if there's no money to buy it with - from you! image

I see your point, I just think it is going to take a longer time than a few days. If as you state, it stayed in the 8-10 dollar range for a while, buyers would I am sure start wondering why they are paying double spot and maybe back off, lowering demand.

  • I have a small lot on eBay that has lost a few bucks in value since I listed it.
